Hey all,

I'm wondering if there's any energy for merging the two google groups DCCommun...@googlegroups.com and coo...@googlegroups.com

My understanding is that the former was started because we didn't have access to admin rights of the latter. Those have now been recuperated, so we can do stuff like make decisions like this. I'm fine with merging one into the other (eg. people in coopdc get invited to DCCommunityWealth, since it has more activity, and then sunsetting coopdc), but it feels like it's creating duplicate work and also makes it slightly more confusing in the ecosystem.

Thoughts? Concerns? I'm going to assume that if people don't respond (within say a month) it would be fine to do, so please flag it if you think they should continue being separate.

Simon,
Your merger proposal sounds sensible to me!

ARC works with communities and local governments using the interactive tool of community visioning to build connection and alignment. ARC also works with local small businesses, cooperatives, and social enterprises to promote sustainable circular regional economic development, helping them obtain the goods and services they need to run their businesses from within the Washington Metro region.

“Civilization is to groups what intelligence is to individuals. it is a means of combining the intelligence of many to achieve ongoing group adaptation.” -- Octavia Butler

"No magic bullet, not even the Internet, can save us from population explosion, deforestation, climate disruption, poison by pollution, and wholesale extinction of plant and animal species. We're going to have to want different things, seek different pleasures, pursue different goals than those that have been driving us and our world economy." -- Joanna Macy

"Our societies will need to become more resilient to climate disruption in the future. This does not just mean building bigger sea walls, (something that is often counterproductive), but stronger support for the ties that keep us together. In a time of climate breakdown, compassion is more important than concrete." -- James Dyke

Note: Jim's e-mail policy correlates with this perspective: "It is normal for me to take 2 days to read my emails and 2 more days to reflect on the matter and respond calmly. The culture of immediacy and the constant fragmentation of time are not very compatible with the kind of life I lead." -- Lucy Hunt, Researcher
