Subject: DCC paddling opportunities for 2017
Hi all,
There’s a lot of paddling to be done between now and Christmas!
The following events are now posted on the DCC calendar and DCC facebook events along with the usual ocean ski and gym sessions. We try to accommodate all levels of paddler so ensure your membership is paid up to DCC or another affiliated club and come along.
Summary:
14-15 Oct – Mersey Whitewater Course – perfect weekend for both competitive and recreational paddlers wishing to step up from Grade 2/3 to a fast but friendly Grade2/3.
Mon Oct 30th – every Monday at 6pm, Paddle, Pals and Pizza. Social paddling with learning and pizza opportunities.
Sun 29th Oct – Bradys Slalom Course – Great for Grade 3+ paddlers (fast and furious) with a redesigned top section. (Lake end to be improved in coming months)
Fri 3rd Nov – Commodores Dinner 6pm at a waterside abode! RSVP before attending.
4-5th Nov – Mersey rumoured to be running?? Come to the dinner and find out for sure.
Sun 12th Nov – Level 1 Rescue Course at Broken Bridge in place of the normal Under 3 trip.
18-19th Nov – Forth River paddling camp – fantastic for those wishing to migrate from flat to moving water at Grade 1 level.
2-3rd Dec – Bradys Slalom Course - DCC champs. For those not keen on the course I’ll run a Grade 2-3 trip down a nearby river (Collingwood, ??) and there’s always a plethora of lakes nearby.
9-10th Dec – Mersey Whitewater Course – Tas Champs. Recreational paddlers welcome as well as competitors. Mingle and socialise with other clubs.
Sun 17th Dec – DCC Christmas BBQ and Under 3 trip – Converge at Broken Bridge for a social barbie and paddle.
For more info go to DCC calendar or Facebook events. Always double check river trips the night before in case of last minute changes due to Hydro or weather constraints. Whilst Hydro attempts to accommodate paddlers needs it may have to cancel at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances.
Contact the organiser where appropriate. I’ll be in attendance at most of these events for any paddlers needing a guide in unfamiliar waters or a lift.
Please note the Day use area of the Mersey above the slalom site is a construction zone. Avoid completely and exit the river from the lower tracks.
Regards
Vicky
