While I can understand some of the purported intentions of Mike Darwin and some others,  it seems evident to me that their -communication methods- have so far not been effective. One of their stated intentions seem to be, as you paraphrased, to improve our chances of us awakening, and/or to improve the policies of the cryonics organizations.  However, the applied communication methods have included personal attacks and berating the readers with unusually large walls of text. One indication that the communication methods are ineffective is when the primary intended recipient stops listening, and Max More decided to unsubscribe from new_cryonet during those discussions.

I personally support the examination of existing policies and habits for potential improvements, but it is important to discuss improvements constructively. I imagine that leaders are less likely to willingly modify policies if they think and feel that they are being personally attacked.

I completely agree with Renee.

From what I understand MD has tried many many ways over the years to get Alcor to listen. He took to his public blog only because he was ignored privately for so long. I honestly don't find his current "communication methods" to be overly harsh. I wasn't part of the new_cryonet group that long before Max More left, so I don't know if there was previous reason for Max to dip out like he did.

I wonder if the people who think MD is too harsh have tried softer ways? Because from what I've seen he seems to be the only knowledgeable person even trying to do anything to improve cryonics.

I don't know about that. Off the top of my head, I know of a great many knowledgeable people who work on a daily basis to improve cryonics.

These are just a few:

* Peter Tsolakides, Mark Milton, and the team of Stasis Systems Australia: Building a new domestic cryonics facility in Australasia.
* Christine Gaspar and the Cryonics Society of Canada: Working to expand local cryonics support services available in Canada.
* Natasha Vita-More, and Daniel Barranco: Recently conducted and published research proving the “Persistence of Long-Term Memory in Vitrified and Revived C. elegans”.
* Dennis Kowalski and the CI Officers: Improving emergency notification and response, with things like the CI App, the file of life initiative, and making personal standby kits available.
* Max More, Aubrey de Grey, and other well known cryonics advocates: Regularly publicizing cryonics through contacts with the media, interviews, articles, and videos.
* Jordan Sparks and Oregon Cryonics: Expanding cryonics services in the US Pacific Northwest.
* The staff at CI, Alcor, Suspended Animation, etc.: Continuously provide high-availability cryopreservation services to the public.
* This tiny sample doesn't even count the hundreds (thousands?) of other dedicated people working to conduct basic research, or to supply practical applications of cryonics and life extension technologies.
