I thought this research was exceptionally interesting. Researchers at UNSW are using pluripotent stem cells to regenerate human tissues "based on context". Their technique can generate a variety of tissues that need to be replaced in the damaged area.

The research has been published in the US in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. If current trials are successful, then human trials may begin in 2017.
