Hi - I'm assembling a box using the laser cut parts from Ponoko, and following the assembly videos.

In assembly step 10 (see here) - the basket alignment tool is glued up. (For reference - it's this part in the BOM.

This does not seem to be included in the transparent parts DXF linked from the build instructions.  For reference - here is the transparent sheet diagram - I don't see the basket alignment tool from the video - but my eyesight isn't the best!

Perhaps I'm just not seeing the 2 parts? I'm at a bit of a loss - not sure if the BOM has been updated or something, perhaps I'm just missing a part?  Am I overlooking it somehow?

(Bit worried that I may just need to rough-cut it from spare sheet using a dremel or something...)

Any ideas?

I just noticed the PNG/DXF on the official site includes the box alignment tool between 2 of the larger parts.  BUT the DXF on Ponoko does *not* include the part between the 2 larger parts. :(

Guess I'm cutting them myself from scrap.  At least I can get the width right, based on the image.  Not sure exactly on the height or where the notch is...

Would be great if someone could update the DXF / link to Ponoko so the cut contains all the right parts; not easy to get extra parts here in the UK.

Graham,
Interesting that those parts of missing in different versions. I did not stumble upon that issue. Good news is I don't recall those pieces being critical!
I think it is just used during assembly to help keep it balanced. Find some scrap wood or something to keep it balanced and you should be good to go.
Any one feel free to step in if I have stated anything wrong.

Thanks for the find, Graham, and for the tip Michael. We'll take a look at the files to see what happened.

The files we examined have the parts included - please see attached. Does this not mirror what you got from your Ponoko order?

Thanks!
Josh

Hey folks!

Just getting started and this seems like an awesome, well organized project. Many thanks to the folks that have put so much time into making this so easy to follow.

Just an FYI, I ordered from Pokono two weeks ago and the basket alignment tool is still missing from the drawings they are working from.

This is a pretty easy fix however. They package things with a lot of cardboard. Simply cut a strip 5/8" wide and about 4" long. Fold this in half along the length and it makes a basket alignment tool. :-)

Best,
Chris

Those parts weren't in the order that I received from Ponoko.

Here's a screenshot of the file that ended up in my cart when I used the link from the crowbox wiki to populate a Ponoko order.

Thanks all, it looks like the piece IS missing on the latest set Ponoko order. We'd sent an update, but it looks like it's not being reflected yet. FWIW, you should be able to fold a piece of cardboard to use for this purpose, but obviously it'd be nice to have it in Plexi sized to fit.

Please hang tight while we get this resolved, and our apologies for the oversight!
