to Crow Box Kit
I work for a Golf Course that uses no chemical pesticides to encourage growth or to inhibit pests.  As a result, at this time every year we have grubs near the surface of the fairways.  Skunks come out at night and start digging for them but the real damage is being done by the crows.  They can't see underground to fgind out where the grubs are but they can see the skunks as they're smelling the grubs out.  The crows descend upon where the skunks are rooting and cause widespread damage to the course that we can never catch up to and keep repaired.
So I have this idea that crows, like any other wild animal, are going to expend only the necessary amount of energy that it takes them to survive.  Eating, nest building, and procreating covers the sum of their activities and they to do not expend energy uselessly.  It takes energy on their part, both individually and collectively to follow after the skunks and dig up the grubs and though they're compensated for that energy loss with a meal well earned, being the intelligent creatures that they are, they should be trainable to recognize a 'free lunch' when they can get it and to that end, my boss has tasked me with investigating the possibility of setting up multiple crow boxes throughout the course, filling them with grubs, and teaching the crows to feed there rather than on the fairways. I would imaging we'd need at least one box and the attendant hardware for each fairway and a large enough growing pen to maintain an adequate supply of grubs.  I could use any advice or reccomendation from anyone out there as to how to best begin my research and development of this project.
