I put together the following mini-doc for use as an email to send to
my contacts and as a post in the various online groups I participate
in. Using it may save you time.....

CrisisCamp - Chicago: Real Help for Haiti
Greetings -
I understand this discussion is outside the primary focus of the
group, but it is hardly spam.
I am involved in setting up a CrisisCamp in Chicago with a focus on
Earthquake relief. CrisisCamps are being held all over the world as a
way of bringing together volunteers, academia, non-profits, companies
and government officials to share best practices and lessons learned
to advocate for further use of technology and telecommunications to
assist citizens and communities during crisis.
Since the earthquake, CrisisCamp participants have provided real
assistance by compiling online maps of Haiti, developing Creole-
English dictionary applications for smartphones, and building a
Craigslist style website for aid groups to swap supplies.
You don't have to be a programming expert to attend. If you can enter
data into a spreadsheet or use Google, you can help.
The details of what we are doing in Chicago are still coming together.
At this point, we are thinking a preliminary meeting on Jan 23,
followed by the actual event on Jan 30. If you are interested, please
register at http://crisiscampchicago.eventbrite.com/
