to Little Miss Know it All's Crazy Coupon Deals!
In the coupon world, there are two golden tickets that everyone seeks--
freebies, and overages. Coupons that give us items for free are
great, we love them and we use them in abundance. However, the coupon
that gives overages, that's a very special breed, one that expert
couponers seek as if it was the Holy Grail.

What exactly is overages? Overage is when a coupon is for an amount
higher than the cost of the product. For example, let's say that
Cascade detergent is on sale for $1.50, but the coupon is for $2 off
any Cascade. That coupon would be worth an extra .50 towards
something else on your shopping list. Remember, stores can't give you
cash back, so you have to use that overage towards another product--
otherwise, their cash registers will reject that coupon altogether.

The most common overages occur in the trial section. For example,
right now I have a set of coupons for $1.50 off All Small and Mighty,
and I can find trial sized All Small and Mighty's for .99. That's .50
of overage.

If you combine your overage coupons, you can really get some good
deals working. I commonly use overages on other products to pay for
my milk, my bread, items that we need but rarely have coupons for. In
the past two weeks I've used overages on Christmas presents, to bring
$70 items down to $30. This takes time and practice, and a lot of
finesse, but as you progress, you too may be able to work deals the
same way.

So this week's newsletter is dedicated mainly to overages. Use them
this week to help with your shopping!

And don't forget, Target is going to be price adjusting for Black
Friday. That means if you know something will be on sale on Black
Friday, buy it today for full price, take it back on Black Friday or
Saturday, and get the difference refunded. This allows you to skip
the 6 am madness, and still get a great deal! Target's Black Friday
ad is at:
http://slickdeals.net/?sduid=245993&t=599584&u2=http://downloads.bfads.net/BFAds-Target.pdf

You can also do your black Friday shopping online! By the way, the
two items I bought for Christmas, the $70 gifts for $30, are Black
Friday items. This Friday I will go in for a price adjustment, giving
me $40 back on those two items. That brings those $70 items down to...
$10 each.

One last tip: when printing coupons on the internet, after it prints
one, hit the back button and it will print a second, without needing
to re-enter all that information again. Second, most coupon printers
install information into your computer, with cookies and registry
edits, to track your printing. If you'd like to block that, check out
a program called Deep Freeze. Most larger corporations and
universities use it to protect their networks. Deep Freeze allows you
to download and install programs, but they are not permanent.
Meaning, when you reboot your computer, it returns to its original
state. You can set the program so that it will allow some
installations to be permanent. But the true benefit is that it will
allow you to print the coupons, but not have their tracking
information stored on your computer. Also, create a junk mail
account--an email account you can use for sign ups so your normal
inbox is not cluttered with all the emails and offers they'll send.
Google offers a program called AutoFill that will enter the
information for you--making getting internet coupons much, much
simpler!

Now for the coupons:

1. $5 off Tylenol. I've posted this one before, but its worth
repeating. You can use this coupon on regular sizes, or on trial
sizes for a very nice overage. Most stores have Tylenol trial sizes
for .99--giving you a $4 overage.

2. $3 off any 2 Post It products. I've previously posted the $2 off
Post It coupon, but that one tends to 'beep'--meaning the cashier must
check to make sure you've bought the right product. Beginner
couponers tend to get nervous at that and don't like it. Its a
legitimate coupon, so don't be. Anyway, this one does NOT beep.
Also, a side benefit is that this coupon actually works on other
products within the 3M family, due to the way that 3M has coded its
UPC. (Large corporations will often do this--code a coupon so that it
works on multiple products instead of just the specific one its
labeled for. P&G is notorious for that type of coding.) It will also
work on Nexcare bandages. Again, I'm not advocating it, but it does
work. Most stores have Post Its for under $2. If you don't have a
use for Post its, try donating them to your local non-profit for their
office, or your kids' teachers. I'm sure they have a use for them!

3. $2.50 off any Renu. You can often find Renu trial sizes. Target
has them for .97, making this a $1.50 overage. You can print two per
computer.

4. $10 off Glucerna. Have a diabetic in your life? They will
appreciate these! Sign up for their newsletter, and they will send
you an email with a link for a $10 off Glucerna shakes coupon. Most
stores sell 8 packs for $8.50, or 4 packs for $5. Right now Target
has the 4 packs for $4, giving you a nice $6 overage! Make sure you
sign up for the diabetic weight loss newsletter.

5. $2 off Clean and Clear. Now, I'm not very acne prone, but these
coupons are good on a multitude of Clean and Clear products, including
the trial size face scrub, which is particularly nice. .97 for the
trial size, giving me a $1 overage.

6. $4-$5 off Purina pet foods. Sign up at the link below and Purina
will give you a coupon for $4-5 off your favorite pet food. It really
depends on the answers to the survey as to what coupon you'll get. An
added bonus is that for every coupon redeemed, Purina will donate $1
in pet food to a local animal shelter. Right now Target sells Cat
Chow for $3.24, so with my $4 off Cat Chow coupon I have a .75
overage.

A few other deals floating out there:

1. Hanes products at Target. The weekly gift card deal falls to
Hanes Apparel products this week. Buy any four Hanes apparel products
and get a $5 gift card. Practically all Hanes are on sale--fleece,
socks, underwear...so stock up and get those gift cards. The
children's fleece is only 3.33 each. Combine with some overages from
above, and the $5 off $25 coupons, and your Hanes can be pretty darned
cheap!

2. Glucerna cereal. Walgreens has boxes of Glucerna cereal on sale
for $4.49 a box. Think Oatmeal Raisin Crunch for diabetics. Anyway,
the kicker is that when you buy one box, you'll get a coupon on your
receipt for $4.49 off your next purchase. Combine with coupons
available on the Glucerna website above, and you can really rack up
the savings!

3. Betty Crocker potatoes. On sale this week in many locations. Use
the .40 off coupon available at www.coupons.com for a decent savings.
At Target that would make them .40 a box. Find them on sale at Meijer
for $1 where the coupon doubles, that brings it down to .20 a box!

4. Chinet. Don't want to do the dishes after Thanksgiving? Use the
Chinet coupons on coupons.com or Smartsource.com and save on Chinet
and the cups. Look for peelies on large packages of Chinet at select
stores (Kroger and Target had them) for free Chinet cups with plate
purchase.

5. Diapers. Target has Pampers on sale for $8 a pack--combine with
$2 or $3 coupons, and the $5 off $25 deal for a good price. (Easy Ups
have $3 coupons inside the package--feel along the end seam to see if
your package has them. And Pampers coupons work on all Pampers
products, regardless of the age or sizing.) Even better--use three
coupons.

3 packages of Pampers--$24
3 packages of Kandoo wipes--$8.40
total before coupons: 32.40

Use:
3 $2 off Pampers coupons
3 free kandoo when you buy pampers coupons
1 $5 off $25 Target coupon

total after coupons: $13 for three packages of diapers and three
packs of wipes. Use other overages in the same shopping trip and you
can really get the price down!

Happy Turkey Day everyone!
