My theory in coupon use is that when I find a great deal, I buy enough
to last at least 6 months. If I can get a year's worth, even better!
Otherwise, coupons are not worth the time and effort they take. When
Toaster Strudels were on sale at Target a month ago for .25 AC, I
bought 40 boxes. Last January when Kroger had a deal on Kraft
Cheeses, I bought 100 bags, bars and slices of cheese (for $35),
enough to last me a year. We are just now getting to the bottom of
that pile of cheese.
The past month has seen some pretty good sales with coupons, and I've
stocked up on cat food and cat litter, diapers, wipes, juice, tylenol,
pretzels, eggos, post-its, candy and even some toys. This week I'm
stocking up on Kellogg's cereals, more pretzels and even more juice.
I've also cleaned my Target out of its Halloween M & M's. I should
have enough for a year or more. But then, that is the coupon game,
isn't it? I shouldn't have to buy any of those things for the next
year. And that's what makes the time and effort worth it.

And now, for this week's coupons:
1. This is the last week for Target's pet coupons--they expire on the
14th. So make sure you stock up on Snausages, Tidy Cat, Sheba,
Pedigree, Purina, and much more. Almost all of those are free with
coupons, or pretty darned close. I know Snausages had a coupon in
last weekend's paper for $1 off. Combine with the target .50 off and
get your snausages for .09. You can find past deals, like the Sheba
and Tidy Cat in the older posts. The coupons are here:
http://stockpile101.com/target.php
2. Free pretzels. This is another one held over from last week.
This should run for another week. Rold Gold pretzels are on sale for
2 for $4. Print a $1 off manufacturer coupon at www.couponsurfers.com,
then combine with this weeks Target coupon for $1 off Lays snacks, to
make them free! There appears to be a 5 print limit on that site--
which can be increased by printing from different computers, or even
switching between Firefox and IE. Or so the owner of the site tells
me.
3. Juice. Many of you have the Juicy Juice coupons, and don't know
what to do with them. If you haven't heard yet, there is controversy
over these coupons. If you want details of my investigation into the
matter, visit my blog at http://truthinpolitics.contentquake.com. In
essence, many of us downloaded the original coupon from Juicy Juice's
website. That was legitimate. What wasn't, was when someone took the
coupon and put it in a handy 6 per page format, in essence
counterfeiting the coupon. Once cut, there is no way to tell the
original from the counterfeit. Many stores are still accepting the
coupon, and some aren't. I haven't tried Kroger in awhile, but I have
heard from others that Kroger has the coupon marked as fraud,
regardless of where you got it from. From what I understand, Walmart
and Target have not done that yet. I have details and documentation
on my blog of the authenticity of the original coupon, and of my
permission to use it from Juicy Juice. But it is up to you as to
whether or not you continue to use it. The original coupon is valid
until December 31st. I'm sorry, but do not email me for copies of the
coupon. Due to the legal controversy, I won't be sharing it with
anyone.
4. Kellogg's cereals. If you have kids who like Corn Pops, Fruit
Loops or Cocoa Krispies, grab your coupons and RUN to Target! Right
now 17 oz boxes (those are the big ones, not the tiny ones) of
Kellogg's cereals are 3 for $7 at Target. With the $1 off coupon in
last weekend's paper, that brings those usually pricey Fruit Loops
down to $1.33 a box! They also have some of the more expensive
cereals on sale too...I found Raisin Bran Crunch at 3 for $7.95, with
a $1 off peelie q on it. I've heard mention of an expired Target
coupon on one of the Target generators, for another $1 off Kellogg's
bringing them to .33 a box. That is, if you use expired target
coupons. Some people do. I don't advocate it either way, but it is
an option at many Targets. Many Targets will take them if they scan.
Its up to you to decide.
5. Toy Catalog. Target has its new Toy Catalog out, and yes, there
are some pretty fine deals in there! Don't miss them! My personal
favorite was the $10 off the Fisher Price Digital Arts studio,
normally $50, on sale for $44, with coupon only $34. Add in my Target
tricks...and it was $9! There are Polly Pocket coupons (which can be
combined with the $5 off coupon from the manufacturer), Transformers,
Little Mommy and Lego coupons too. They were in the paper last week,
or can be found in booklets in the toy department. As always, they
are also on their website at www.target.com/toycatalog.
6. Speaking of toys, don't forget about the Polly Pocket coupon at
http://www.mattel.com/pollypromise/coupon_english.pdf
or the $5 off Tylenol coupon at
http://www.tylenol.com/page.jhtml?id=tylenol/news/subpcccoldmed.inc
7. Free Post-Its. Post-Its had a free coupon pdf on their website,
for $2 off any Super Sticky Post It Notes. You can find these in many
stores for $1.25-$2.25. I don't know about you guys, but there's
nothing more attractive to my kids than a pile of post-its. Its like
our own little game of Blue's Clue's. I don't mind since the post-its
are free! Get the coupon here:

8. P & G Esaver. If you buy a lot of P&G products, head over to this
site and register! This are clipless coupons added to your Kroger
Plus card, that automatically redeem whenever you buy that product.
My understanding is these can be combined with regular P&G coupons.

9. Last, the rumors are flying about Black Friday! Many of the
larger stores have had their Black Friday ads leaked. Start planning
now! (That is, if you venture out into all that madness.) Pick them
up at http://forums.slickdeals.net/showpost.php?p=8452414&postcount=1.
This is a compilation of links to many different sites, with varying
ads. A trick to remember, check the store's price adjustment policy.
If you buy an item say, five days before Black Friday, and it goes on
sale, will they refund the difference to you? Some will, some won't,
you need to ask specifically about Black Friday sales. But if they
will, you could avoid the lines by buying it early for regular price,
and returning after Black Friday for a refund.

The deals are still working! This week alone I've been to Target
three times, for a total of $335 in groceries and merchandise. In
that total are $130 in toys for Christmas (both for my kids and the
toy drive bins), some shoes and pj's for the kids, and about $120 in
groceries. And one $15 gift card. My grand total after coupons?
$25. The secret is to work the coupons--combine items that are free
(or close to it) after coupon, with items that are full price. Then
use the 5 off 25 coupons I've linked in past postings to cover much of
the cost of the full price items.
For example, my son wants an I dog for Christmas. They're $19.99 at
Target, and there's no coupon for that. Here's how I got it for
almost free:
1 Idog=$20
4 Juicy Juice boxes=$11
4 Juicy Juice bottles=$11.56
10 cans Sheba cat food=$10.90
1 bag Snausages=1.59
4 post its=4.76
5 boxes Kellogg's cereal=11.65
Approximate total after tax is $75. Every item listed (except the
Idog) has coupons that make it free, or .10 or less. Use all items
manufacturer and target coupons, for a total of $25 left. Use 1 pet
$5 coupon, and three $5 off $25 coupons for a new total after coupons
of $5!
For those of you who want to know where I get my extra coupons--I get
most of them off of ebay (type in "Kellogg coupon" in the search) or
off www.thecouponclippers.com.
