It's beginning to look like Iraq with the Shia have 100 parties and
the Sunnis having another 100 parties.

I suppose...hope...one of them takes hold.

Alas, another board with no slell check. D'oh!

I thought this was the Kurd board?

Two boards is a bit annoying...we need a third.

btw, the solution in Iraq is simple...if it is going to work in the
long run anyway. Give the Shias the Executive branch of government,
the Sunnis the Legislative branch of government, and the Kurds the
Judicial branch of government. Poof...problem solved! One has to
wonder why the State Department has not figured this one out yet....

Biden has been preaching partition of some sort since at least 2004.
Given the moribund state of State since Bush took office, it's no
surprise that the State Department has not figured this one out yet.
Remember, State was shunted aside on the run up to the war, its
"Future of Iraq Project" completely ignored by geniuses like Rumsfvvk,
Cheney, Wolfy, etc..

According to an article published in the Atlantic about 4 years ago,
Rumsfeld refused to allow anyone to plan for post-invasion rule of the
country.

the place.

He is talking about an 'Inter-State' partitioning. I am talking about
an 'Intra-State' partitioning. I admit, it is a new idea, but the US
Constiutution has held up based on the same principle for longer than
anything the British Empire has been able to devise in the Middle
East. It can work.

The U.S. occupation of Iraq is a debacle not because the government
did no planning but because a vast amount of expert planning was
willfully ignored by the people in charge. The inside story of a
historic failure
