Don,

I'm not sure if you'll receive this, but we found out a few months ago that Yahoo (and Verizon, and AOL, and a handful of other email domains) block the mailing list emails automatically, and all attempts that I and the Corvette Museum administrator have made to contact anyone there have gone unanswered.

I did set up a Google Groups mailing list - it's in the CC line.  I'd suggest everyone who can switch from the @MailList.CorvetteMuseum.com address and start using the corvett...@googlegroups.com address.  Hopefully, with the move to Google Groups, some of the technical challenges will disappear.

And I personally apologize for not being more proactive with list-related questions in the past few months due mainly to personal events.

It has been about a year since I have seen an email from the group.

Any help would be appreciated.

I use a dry spray of Teflon on the push rod and into the clutch boot.  No issues after 20+ years of use with my 67

Woah - you mean they are not supposed to be torn and deteriorated? I thought that is how they rolled off the line. I am sure I saw a note in the AIM saying something to the effect of, "if clutch boot appears serviceable upon installation, remove and tear before reassembly."

I need to replace mine as well - interested in seeing what the consensus on lube is and perhaps if they are designed to fail after 6 months, a recommendation for prolonging lifespan. Dielectric grease is sometimes recommended as a rubber lubricant - maybe something like that would work.

John,
I don't think lube is the answer  I have replaced that boot in my 66 a half dozen times over the years, and have never had one to last more than 6 months before they tore or deteriorated.  Maybe it’s the heat in the deep South, or maybe I am doing it wrong?  Regardless, good luck!  I will be looking for answers from the list!

Have pedal assembly out of my 67 & am replacing clutch boot at firewall also. Wondering what lube to use at shaft/boot ... I think chassis grease will just attract dirt? Any suggestions!

Hi Dan,

When you say to start using the corvett...@googlegroups.com address, is there anything we need to do other than just included it as "cc" address?

Also, a few of us were looking for some clarification a few months back on how to search our archives, so would you be able to clear that up for us?

Thanks, as always, for everything you do to keep our list online!!!

Best regards,

Nick Sakellis
