If you are new to innovation what things should you do, where do you
start? Here's our top five tips.

1. Investigate and review what your company has already done to attain
a past history of innovation in the business.

2. Find a good innovation conference with relevant topics of interest
(see the Upcoming Events Panel above). Where possible, find one that is
taking place in the next 2 to 4 weeks. This will allow you to benefit
as quickly as possible from attending.

3. Network at the innovation conference with people in a similar
position to yourself and find out what they have done.

4. Find a good innovation reading list. If possible read at least five
books fairly quickly to gain a balanced view on innovation. Some to
consider are:

- Blue Ocean Strategy by W. Chan Kim
- The Innovators Dilemma by Clayton Christensen
- The Innovator's Solution by Clayton Christensen et al.
- Ten Rules for Strategic Innovators by Govindarajan & Trimble.

5. Undertake web-based innovation research. A good place to start would
be the links at the bottom of the 'Corporate Innovation' newsletter
and the following recommended links from those pages.
