Are customer ideas good enough quality to help companies develop better
products and services? Do employees provide better input on customer
needs by synthesizing requests with their internal knowledge and
expertise?

Do you have any ideas you'd like to share on this?

Most of the time their won't be a direct link between customer ideas
and product or service innovation. But, customer ideas are the hunting
ground or starting point for two things:
- improved market- and customer oriented solutions
- exploration of joint (customer & own company) market opportunities
The latter stretched the markets, competenties, ideas and portfolio of
more then one company into new, joined innovation or improvement ideas
(e.g. Senseo, shift form Medical products to medical services).
