So here is a simple ? - What are you all interested in learning?

Would anyone be interested in Video Chat or VTC lessons?

I'm at the point where I'm just starting to learn arm rolls, and I have
no real sense of where to begin or whether I should be practicing a lot
of other things longer first.

This is a straight forward question but a tricky one.
I will answer it the best I can.
I started to learn Body Rolls by using a much bigger ball. I started
with a basketball to get the idea down.
I was doing all outside rolls, top of the arm, or back of the hand.
How ever you want to say it it starts on the back of my hand and ends
on the back of the other hand.

Once I could do it with a basketball I downsized to a mini basketball.
Now I can do them with consistency with a 3.5" ball.

I would also recommend starting to learn control points.

Without watching you I have no ability to make 'helpful' suggestions.
I put helpful in quotes because me telling you what will help and what
really helps are two entirely different things.

Also Michael Glenn has pointed out to me to MOVE when doing body rolls.
If you spin in the same direction you are rolling the ball the ball
will slooooowww down allowing you more control.
Also this is a good way to start moving.

Oh and MOVE AROUND as much as you can given your space limitations.
Keeping the 50" plasma safe is more important to most people then you
getting your best body roll ever. BE AWARE of your surroundings and
always 'Respect The Ball'

Let me know if this makes sense, if it helps, if you have more
questions because of it.

So did that help?
Did it make it any easier?

I was working on behind the neck rolls this weekend and used this same
advice. I wish I could say I nailed it unfortunately I made myself
dizzy instead.

For the behind the neck roll I have found it helpful to look the other
way of the ball.
So if you are rolling from your left hand behind the neck to the right
hand you would look away or towards the receiving hand the Right
side. This allows the ball a place to go as if you look left you need
to duck underneith the ball.

Anyone out there doing the behind the neck roll and if so what did you
find helpful?

I can consistently get chest rolls with small balls but still can't get behind the neck rolls with larger balls at all.
I'm with Rich on this, anyone have any tips?

The idea of moving under the ball helps, instead of trying to rely entirely on gravity.

At the moment my ball of choice is a 4" hollow stainless, but I have a 5" one as well.  Both are very light (about 170g and 190g respectively) and this actually helps with the rolls.  I'd love to get something about 50% heavier, which would still be much lighter than a comparably sized acrylic, but I'm afraid it doesn't exist.  At the moment I'm working on a simple pattern: Roll from left palm along forearm and catch in right cradle; continue roll to right elbow and catch in left cradle; do left cradle to palm transfer and repeat.
