Seventy-five percent of respondents stated they believed the narcissist(s) in their life are evil. Fifteen percent stated they did not believe in evil. And only ten percent stated they did not believe the narcissist to be afflicted by evil. No matter your opinion of the existence of evil, it is obvious narcissist's make people feel as if they have encountered evil and or the Devil himself. Theologically this makes sense as pride is the root of all evil, sin. And what one characteristic do all narcissists/psychopaths "possess?"  Pride

I do believe in evil existing...I believe my ex was genetically programmed to be a sociopath (his grandfather was diagnosed as a sociopath late in life) and he had terrible parenting and so he can't be anything but what he is....selfish to the end. 0.41% 1

When he was in a narcissistic rage, I often used to think that he'd looked and sounded evil. When he was calm, I didn't think that and I felt sorry for him. 0.41% 1

I'm not sure if it is "evil", pure and simple, or mental illness, that demands more research and expertise from the medical society. The end result is definitely evil behavior. And, I, myself feel I am fighting not to become like him. I am filled with so much pain, and, so much rage. 0.41% 1

Yes i truly believe he is evil. When i was at my lowest point (suffering from a breakdown), for several weeks i was aware of an almost constant 'dark shadow' to the right of me, which i could only see out of the corner of my eye. As i gradually became stronger, it disappeared. I'm absolutely convinced it was nothing to do with my imagination, or fragile mental state at that time and that it was some form of negative energy, or demon (for want of a better word), which had originated from him. 0.41% 1

Evil in the biblical sense, or evil in that there is no good in side him- he lives his life for the thrill, the game of hurting and taking 0.41% 1

At the end, I felt that in some strange way he was causing a "spiritual rot or disease" of my soul. My sense was that escaping this relationship was life or death (as in I would have committed suicide). It almost felt as if he were actually "draining" me of my "life-force." 0.41% 1

Evil as in having absolutely no remorse. He left our 10 yr old daughter at a 5k without supervision, he said wait her I'll be right back. She was in the middle of 100's of strangers to run a race. 0.41% 1

As a concept yes. If there IS a definition of evil then surely a total lack of empathy and humanity is it. There were times I encountered what I can only describe as evil in certain interactions with this person. I never want to be near anything like that again. It was utterly inhumane so yes I believe he is evil. 0.41% 1

I'd call ol' Midwestern, Lutheran guilt (according to Letterman) Dave a covert narcissist. He had me fooled for awhile. I liked him early on, have not watched in years but thought of him as a bit of a recluse. But come to find out - he's a philander and lacking in any empathy. The apology he proffered was forced by his wife. To top it all off, he used to take his mistress along on family vacations... Top Ten reasons Letterman is a narcissist;

1. He's not good looking, but acts like he's hot.
2. Dates women half his age, more like a third.
3. Keeps a harem....
4. Used his power and position to get his way.
5. Obviously a profligate liar.
6. Pity ploy- once he's caught acts like the victim (not excusing blackmailer)
7. Inflated ego
8. Projection, attacks narcissists on his show like Madonna, Drew Barrymore-pot calling kettle black
9. Lacks empathy- dated and cheated on his wife for twenty-three years until finally marrying her
10.****Worst of all, he pretended to be a self-deprecating geek. When in reality, he's just a loser.
