SmartIT is actively seeking QA Test Engineer for a position located in Columbus, Ohio.

Job Title: QA Test Engineer

Vertical: IT, Insurance

Location: Columbus, Ohio

QA Test Engineer Overview: Support the delivery of high quality software by writing code and utilizing technical skills.  Work with team to contribute based on previous expertise and strategies. Will be asked to utilize Quality Assurance/Testing/Development skills in order to most effectively deliver high quality software through activities such as automated feature verification, load testing, the writing of acceptance tests in Ruby, developing tools in C# to support manual verification efforts, and debugging JavaScript to understand failing tests.  The Test Engineer will be expected to learn and understand new technology quickly but is not expected to be an expert in any particular technology.

QA Test Engineer Job Responsibilities:

·              Create and maintain test automation and databases

·              Influence the design of software systems

·              Evaluate proposed changes in the system to determine required changes within the testing framework and existing regression suite

·              Understand effects of system code changes on product under test and modify testing appropriately

·              Develop and maintain automated test scripts using appropriate scripting languages

·              Serve as a mentor to developers and other testers by reviewing and monitoring unit tests

·              Update project management software weekly to reflect assigned task status and effort

·              Update problem management and tracking system to reflect problem status

·              Make suggestions and track internal and external EODB

·              Perform other duties as assigned

QA Test Engineer Job Requirements:

·              Ruby/Cucumber experience required

·              C# experience highly preferred

·              Gherkin is a plus

·              Test Automation experience required

·              Agile experience required

·              Must be willing to work in an environment that supports cross team/department collaboration

·              Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent education and experience preferred. 

·              One year of experience required

·              Ability to work under general supervision with some latitude for un-reviewed actions or decisions

·              Must have thorough knowledge of at least one applications programming language and competent to work at a high technical level of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities

·              Must possess very good problem solving, interpersonal and communications skills

·              Should be willing to develop an understanding of the insurance business
