Colour of Change Network - Parliament is due back into a new session on May 26 - and the Throne Speech is to follow on May 27 !

As we work to build good relations with the new federal government - see the link ( and attached ) our priority issues documents from the recent federal election - Justice and Equity for All - Summary of Priorities - Federal Election 2025 ( COP-COC, OCASI, SALCO, CASSA and CCNC-SJ - April 2025 )

To help us think about and frame our potential approaches to the new government and its new Cabinet - I thought the below might be of some help !

Federal Cabinet is now made up of thirty-eight ( 38 ) individuals - twenty-four ( 24 ) of whom are new to Cabinet.

There are twenty-eight ( 28 ) Minister's - fourteen ( 14 ) of whom are new to Cabinet, nine ( 9 ) of which are new MP's.

There are ten ( 10 ) Secretary's of State - four ( 4 ) of whom are new MP's.


There are four ( 4 ) Indigenous Cabinet members - 

Rebecca Alty - Min. of Crown-Indigenous Relations ( former Mayor of Yellowknife - 2018-2025 )
Buckley Belanger - Secretary of State ( Rural Development )
Rebecca Chartrand - Min. of Northern and Arctic Affairs and Minister responsible for the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency ( former President/CEO of Indigenous Strategy )
Mandy Gull-Masty - Min. of Indigenous Services ( was the most recent and first woman Grand Chief of the Grand Council of the Crees )

There are nine ( 9 ) people of colour in Cabinet - but curiously given current ethno-racial demographics there is no one of east Asian heritage !?
