Colour of Change Network members members - two items of critical and timely relevance as we continue to navigate these COVID-19 defined times - looking for and creating opportunities for immediate and longer term racial justice change-making !

1) in a renewed effort to try to get our "racesEDJ" blog up and running Avvy Go ( one of the COP-COC Steering Committee representatives ) has written a blog on the lack of attention to non-status, undocumented folks within the multiple policy, program and benefit responses to COVID-19 announced to date by all orders of government - titled - The hidden and not so hidden casualty of COVID-19 - see attached - and COP-COC website link - https://colourofpoverty.ca/2020/04/13/the-hidden-and-not-so-hidden-casualty-of-covid-19/

2) from the Black to the Future Community of Practice - see attached - the COVID-19 Emergency Aid Report ( Black to the Future Community of Practice - April 2020 ) - a collective response from Black-led, Black-serving organizations working in the Greater Toronto Area on the impact of COVID-19 on our communities. The findings in this report are from a nationwide survey conducted by Network for the Advancement of Black Communities (NABC). The survey was open to non-profits and charities with a mission and mandate to serve Black Communities. The survey was conducted over two weeks via an online platform. A total of 90 agencies were surveyed across the country and 47 identified as Toronto serving agencies. This report aims to influence how resources are being allocated to alleviate the effects of COVID-19 on Ontarians.  Black communities must be supported in ways that only Black-led, Black-serving organizations can provide. The next steps include action planning for what recovery and post COVID-19 existence will look like. As always please help post and share through your various social media and other networks and channels !

Let's most wisely seize this time to creatively and appropriately address the all too real inequities and disparities experienced by Indigenous Peoples and peoples of colour - now exacerbated by the global pandemic - and lay strong foundations for long-term racial justice change-making purposes - michael
