The Colorado Division of Emergency Management in cooperation with the University of Colorado Denver and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are pleased to announce a Hazus training opportunity.
The L174 Hazus MH for Earthquake class will be held January 10th through January 12th, 2012 from 8 am to 5 pm.
The course will be hosted at the University of Colorado Denver Downtown Campus in Denver, Colorado.
This course is designed to provide in-depth instruction on the use of Hazus-MH for advanced applications related to earthquake-loss modeling. The Earthquake Model provides loss estimates of damage and loss to buildings, essential facilities, transportation lifelines, utility lifelines, and population based on scenario or probabilistic earthquakes. The Hazus MH software can be used when developing Local Hazard Mitigation Plans.
The target audience is State and Local government employees working on natural hazard risk assessment, specifically earthquake, for emergency management. A working knowledge of the ArcGIS Desktop software is needed. Familiarity with Hazus-MH is helpful.
Please see the flier at http://goo.gl/xYRGc for details and application information.
As everyone heads off for the winter season holiday(s) I thought I would toss this out for those who maybe interested and hadn't seen the announcement yet.
I apologize in advance for any cross posting.
Thank you,
Victoria S.
