Hello colorForthers,

Announcing the latest colorForth distribution:

http://www.inventio.co.uk/LegacyIndex.htm

Now with added documentation:
http://www.inventio.co.uk/cf2019_colorForth.pdf

You can download the self-extracting zip file here :
http://www.inventio.co.uk/cf2019_Issue_2019Apr04.exe
or zip file here :
http://www.inventio.co.uk/cf2019_Issue_2019Apr04.zip

Also available from SourceForge :
https://sourceforge.net/projects/colorforth/
https://sourceforge.net/projects/colorforth/files/cf2019_Issue_2019Apr04.exe/download

There are two known bugs :
1. Block 42 "calkhz" needs a  swap  before the  - (the frequency is negated)
2. Block 86 the  "gr"  graphics demo does not work
Lack of time has prevented me from fixing these for this distribution.

There are at least two missing features :
1. Online source repository
2. Version control

Enjoy!

Cheers,
Howerd

From the website :

"colorForth is a simple dialect of Forth created by the inventor of Forth, Chuck Moore.
cf2019 is a distribution that runs on a Windows PC in bochs, or natively from a USB drive.

Download cf2019_Issue_2019Apr04.exe colorForth system packaged with Bochs.

Double left click ( run ) go.bat to run the cf2019.img image in the bochs PC emulator.

Documentation : cf2019_colorForth.pdf
cf2019 uses BIOS calls to access the USB drive, so it is no longer necessary to have a floppy disk drive to run natively!

Full assembler source file, NASM assembler, colorForth source and batch files to create the colorForth image, and run it in the bochs emulator.

Real colorForth running on (just about) any Windows PC."

Dear Howerd,

Sounds like great news: CF running natively on a modern CPU _and_ loaded from USB! How would you interface it with the GA144 evaluation board?
Could one use the board's serial line (via its USB convertor) and talk to the GA144 direct in CF? Could be a powerful fast combo.

@Pk Sharma

Hello, I am Nick Maroudas and some ten years ago I coded a synth in CF which did 4 part harmony at sample rate 300kHz. In those days 300kHz was controversial but such Hi Res audio standard is accepted in HiFi circles. Ray St. Marie will remember our correspondence on that topic. (Hi! Ray, good to see you are still around. Howerd, Likewise I'm sure.

I was sure GA144 would be the best CPU for building a Hi Res 392kHz synth, and I even bought an EV board but I had to shelve my tinkerings for personal reasons; also because I could not use my old style floppy CF to communicate directly with GA144 EVB via USB. Seems to me Howerd may have solved that problem.
