Tips in the General Announcements

1. Did you know that you can cancel your print job if the printer gets
jammed?

2. Did you know that printing double sided is the default on most
computers at Colby? If it's not on, you can easily change it by
looking in the printing preference.

3. If you select "Print Preview" before printing your documents, you
can ensure that you are printing exactly what you wanted to print--and
it will also be a reminder to pick up what you printed!

4. Did you know that screen savers use more energy than sleep mode
does, and that they are generally considered unnecessary for newer
computers?

My roomate and did not like the announcement about pb and J. like,
come on, we all know it is better to be a vegetarian, as are we both,
but do we really have to tell other people to be vegetarians?

2. Use cloth towels instead of paper ones.

3. Make your own personal recycling bin by REUSING a box or other
materials!

4. CFL bulbs use 75% less energy and last 10 times longer!!

5. GREEN YOUR CLOSET! Buy local, natural, buy organic!

6. When you do your laundry use the BRIGHT COLOR CYCLE! It uses COLD
WATER so no energy is used to heat the water up! AND, you can mix
whites and colors!

7. Your electronics absorb energy even if they are off, so UNPLUG your
electronics when they are not in use!

We just got approval from SGA to use a part of their whiteboard for
Green Tips of the Day! So start putting your tips up on the board..
We've only got a part of the whiteboard, so use the space well :) The
Info Desk has markers so ask the worker for them.
