It was a perfect afternoon to go metal detecting in central Indiana!
60 degrees, no wind and they just mowed the old active 1872
fairgrounds in town! There aren't any better conditions than that! So
I thought I would head back out to the same spot where I found the 69
Indian a couple of weeks ago hunting with Larry and Smitty.
I was hunting with the WOT and going VERY SLOW listening to any hint
of a deep repeatable non iron signal. It was about 15 minutes later I
get this nice one down DEEP! It sounded a little bit like a Memorial
penny but I knew down that deep that it might be something else.......
I cut a nice deep big plug and went in with the probe and got nothing
(which is a good sign - nails null it out)! So I dug a little deeper
and bingo there's it was! I zoomed in on it digging carefully until I
was right on top of it then I broke the dirt loose and scooped it out.
When I went back in the hole it was GONE so I knew I must have pulled
it out. Sure enough it was in the big dirt pile. I rolled it around
until I found the right clod and when I picked it up I saw this!
