Hi Everyone,

At the moment the software that comes with the Cognimem is all windows
based, however we are interested in trying to hook up the cognimem to
a linux or osx box.

Has anyone had any experience of doing such a thing? Are there any
linux or osx drivers in existence?

Any tips on the best approach to take if we are creating them from
scratch ourselves?

Many thanks in advance

Hi Sam,

Yes, the software support for the CM Image Recognition Board and CM
Evaluation Board is Windows based. I can't comment yet on future plans
of Linux and MacOSx support of these evaluation boards. I don't know
about the USB driver support under Linux eg the Micron image sensor
driver - I'll have to defer this question to General Vision.

The new RoboSight camera that RoadNarrows has developed is more bare-
bones in that the connection to the host PC is a serial RS232
interface so it is operating system agnostic. The video output uses a
standard RCA connector in PAL format that can be connected to a TV
monitor or an RCA to USB adapter supported across platforms. The host
software being developed is demonstration software for quick
prototyping and learning the capabilities of the CogniMem chip, but it
will not be good for supporting advanced applications like the Image
Knowledge Builder by General Vision.

Best, Kim

I don't have any suggestions, but I do have sympathy - I'm a Mac user
myself and have found digging through the Windows code unattractive. A
Java interface would be a good place to start I think, then it would be
more OS agnostic than a tricksy Windows dll is. (I think.)

I forgot to mention, the RoboSight software being developed by
RoadNarrows Intelligent Systems will work on all platforms, but won't
be as powerful as the Image Knowledge Builder. Java would be a great
choice for our RoboSight. We'll keep this group posted on the status
of the development.
