Resuming CD

HI All,

We need to finalise a date to resume CoderDojo UCD. Given that I am away this Friday and next week is the Friday of a bank holiday weekend, I suggest resuming on Friday August 10th.

The learning is lab is available for 3 weeks from that date. We need as a group to undertake the following:

Agree to resume August 10th
Book Learning Lab beyond August 24th; Dave, perhaps you could speak to John Dunnion about this?
Recruit additional mentors
Agree the composition of the next sessions; my suggestion is to issue 20 places to previous attendees who wish and will commit to continue...this can be structured to progress to different levels; issue 20 places to new attendees from waiting list. We have to do something about the latter as we are not moving forward at all.
On the admin side, I am kicking off our Springboard programme for unemployed graduates so I am very time constrained for the foreseeable future. Lucy/Caitriona, I need help to manage the Gmail waiting list enquiries once we have finalised the date and composition issues.

Hi,

Aug 10th would be fine for me, unpredictable work travel not withstanding.

It's hard to know what to do about the large backlog, although your half/half continuing kids and newbies is a reasonable idea.

I missed two of the last three sessions due to work travel: am I right in assuming that from the 10th we'd still be doing Scratch and/or HTML for the new kids?

For mentors: I will ask the Bray mailing list if anyone there wants to come have a practice in the UCD dojo before starting in Bray in September :-)

I have had practically zero response to e-mails regarding availability of mentors to resume this Friday. Given this and the fact that one or two key persons are not available, now including myself, I am shelving the resumption of CoderDojo until September.

I will try and find some time to send mails to parents and waiting list explaining same.

Actually we were booked out last Saturday, even though it was a bank holiday.

On Saturday the 11th and 18th we are mentor limited to 40 (beginners) + 16 (projects).  

On Sunday 19th we have a hard limit of 40 kids for the mini-two-hour-dojo  That's a space limit as we will have many mentors and observers and the studios and gallery are needed to make this work well.

From September we hope we'll be back to full strength on mentors and be able to take 50 (beginners) + 24 (projects).
