Greetings-

As per what I believe I read on the CodeMash website, I have been waiting on an e-mail from the Kalahari to call in and confirm my reservation. As of this weekend I had not received anything, but then I received a marketing e-mail to add a spa package for my upcoming stay. The text version of the thing quickly showed a confirmation number before the marketing graphics took over, so I decided to call in. Sure enough, they do have our reservations ready and I was able to get my room confirmed (without the confirmation number because I could not screen shot it that fast).

I monitor my junk e-mail pretty religiously (never know when that money from Zimbabwe is coming through) and never saw anything there, so I'm passing this along in case others are sitting waiting for an e-mail.

It's not just you. I polled a number of people who registered and nobody seems to have gotten the Kalahari registration notice - just a somewhat spammy "enhance your stay" for add-on services email from them.  Ticket info listed Oct 18 as the deadline for confirming, though elsewhere it said you have 10 days to respond after their initial email/phone call - so not sure which is the true cut-off.

I received a confirmation email from Kalahari last evening, for the 4 day room reservation (I had not called, nor anything else except the Eventbrite registration). I called Kalahari with the supplied confirmation number, extended my reservation through the weekend, and added room request.

Much easier process, thank you Codemash.

Hey Mark - Could you share the Subject of the email? Thanks...

Sure.  The Subject was simply "Reservation Confirmation", and the sender was "confir...@kalahariresort.com".  It was Kalahari's standard automated reservation confirmation, with PDF document of the reservation details attached.

I ordered 3 tickets with rooms for myself and coworkers.  So far, I've only received one room confirmation.

I'm assuming they are doing a rolling release of the emails to not overwhelm the Kalahari call center.

Received my second room confirmation.  Once overnight and one just now.

As I understand, there was a delay due to a new reservation system that the Kalahari is implementing*. That roadblock has been cleared, and they are now working through the list of 4-day+hotel ticket holders, as others have pointed out. So long as you have an Eventbrite ticket with hotel, you can expect to be contacted soon.

* That new system was supposed to support web-based reservations, so perhaps they had to revert to the former process for the this year... but, that is exciting news for future conferences, since it would just involve emailing links to a web site instead of handling 700 reservations through their call center.

Saw the Twitter post that emails were going out 24 hrs ago. Still haven't received one and all my coworkers have. Are they still going out? How long do I wait until it's an issue, and who do I report it to?

I'd give it to the end of the week before thinking that there's something wrong. Sounds like it's largely a manual process on their part, and with 700 rooms to handle, it will just take time.

Thanks for the info, Jason. "I'd give it to the end of the week before thinking that there's something wrong." So I'm assuming the 18th deadline mentioned by Paul is not an issue if we don't get the confirmation email by then? I've been a bit worried that the room reservations would be released on the 18th if we didn't confirm before then.

I'll find out. I get the feeling that the date was set assuming that the Kalahari would start reservations right away, instead of the current situation where there was a delay.

Due to the technical issues, that Oct 18 deadline will be extended, and this info will be emailed to ticket holders, too.

In any event, Codemash will send a "last chance" email to anyone who fails to act on the Kalahari reservation in the few days prior to the deadline. If you happen to get one of these (i.e., in a couple of weeks from now), then you probably missed the email from the Kalahari. :-)
