Participants,

The deadline for proposal submission is 31st Dec 2008. Please submit on time

We have already got a number of submissions and some of them has the following missing

1. No faculty reference
2. Three Sun open source technologies are not being used

We will inform the participants individually, if we do not hear back from them we will reject the proposal

From now onwards if we see that the submissions are not proper we will simply reject them. Hence please treat your submissions with due respect.

Please read the rules carefully. Do some home work before asking questions.

For proposal submission the java.net project link (prototype) is optional
For the final project submission,  you have to host your project on java.net

Flavio,

Your faculty reference and contact details is your own name. You may find this funny but we do not. If you want to have fun, please dont waste our time

There is just a misunderstanding Tirthankar!

By the time I submitted my project I didn't know yet the explanation of the faculty field.

I'm not trying to have fun I'm just trying to represent my college.

I guess I filled in the details on the faculty field the way I understood it that time.

Some days after submitting the project I've read the discussions about the faculty field.

Can I send you the correct details of the faculty field for my already submitted project by email?

Now I know very well the meaning of the faculty field but at that time I didn't.

Please, hope you can understand it.

Do you work for SUN? No wonder SUN is going to the dogs. This is the kind of behaviour that utterly un-professional people who call themselves opensource enthusiasts and have no idea what the culture really is about. Go get some manners on IRC or someplace. Freaking idiot.

Flavio,

From the CFF website, rules section

Project Proposal: The participants must submit their Project Proposal during the Proposal Period (ending on December 31, 2008), which must include the participants' name, address, and contact information, University name, contact information of a faculty reference, project name and abstract, a working prototype and a presentation (with not more than 20 slides) detailing the project idea, a pointer to the project and source code repository (with version stamp) on java.net and the names of the open source technologies used. Each Project Proposal submission will be qualified as a valid Entry after a review by the panel of judges determines, in their sole discretion, that the Entry meets the minimum submission requirements described above to participate in the contest. The participants should proceed with submitting the final project implementation only after the project proposal is approved as a qualifying entry.

The rules clearly state that you need to submit the contact information of a faculty and definately that can not be your email id. You can mail me your faculty reference details to me.

Hi Debayan,

I do work for sun and I do not need to justify my actions to you and nor do I want to learn online "professional" etiquette from you.

Ofcourse, that's the problem, you do not want to learn :), and my respect for SUN increased just now!
