Dear Friends,

I am writing to inform you that the European Languages Division decided to encourage other languages as well to run workshops like the ones we have for Classical Languages; so it has been decided that this year the workshops of all languages will take place at the same time as the International Symposium on European Languages in East Asia. Probably the format will be Day 1: Symposium, Day 2: Workshops, Day 3: Symposium; but final decisions have not yet been taken. As for the date, it will be sometime in November.

Also the topic of both Symposium and Workshops will be the same, and this has been decided:  "The Role of Art, Music and Literature in European Studies -- A Critical Discourse in Cross Cultural Communication".

Like last year, so this year too Classicists from Japan, Korea and (hopefully mainland China too this time) will be invited to present papers in the Symposium and will also be expected to participate in the discussions in our Workshop; so our workshop this year will have an international flavour and we will all get a better opportunity to acquaint ourselves with work in Classics happening in our neighbourhood in the world.

Vassilis
