Aabey Oye Classmates,

After seeing the communications floating around for the last month or so,the

following have emerged:

( a )Sanjiv Sarin and Anup Mandal vehemently pressing for Bum and samosas.

( b ) All people attending have not given their dietary and drinks preferences

to Ramgopal.

( c ) Ramgopal is being a very good host and going overboard. He has roped in

his wife and daughter for the event.

(d ) Anup Mandal has loaded the latest list of participants. Total count 27.

Gentlemen, We have to remember that

( a ) though mentally we are still school boys but our bodies have biologically

aged and we are all 50 years +.We are not gluttons! The enthusiasm being shown is

remarkable but has to be harnassed other wise our spouses and children will have

the last laugh!

( b ) The basic aim of RECONNECT I was to meet each other, revive old memories

, know each other once again, have the families mingle and mesh.

Based on the above facts, the following are recommended:

( a ) If Bum and samosas are mandatory, then the menu be frankies, rolls ,

burgers from KFC / McDonalds. Small eats can be arranged from any where. this

will reduce Ramgopal's burden.

OR

( b ) If Bum and samosas are deleted, then a dinner , including small eats, be

organised through a trader.

All are requested to give their valuable opinion for (a ) OR ( b ) above

by AM 10 Oct 13 and thereafter Ramgopal, Anurag, Sukhbir and self will do the

needful.

The decision , based on the consensus or otherwise , will be intimated to all

by 11 Oct 13.

My personal opinion is that the Delhites can have Bum samosa any time when they

meet next as the spouses may not appreciate / understand the sentiments !

Love and take care,

Shiv

1. The discussion on the bun samosas was done in an open forum. No one was stopped from giving his opinion.
2. We cannot be re-visiting every decision made at every stage.
3. There is no justification for giving unilateral, absolute choices: either this or that. Why is it assumed that no other options are possible?
4. No one is forced to eat or not to eat anything or everything in any party or get-together. Every individual has a choice to select any, reject any, select all or reject all items on the menu.
For example if someone does not want to eat non-veg or avoid sugar , or drink alcohol, it is up to him. Same for bun samosa.
7. Out of the many items that are proposed to be on the menu, I don't see why one or two cannot be suggested by the "janta". Normally the host tries to figure out what the people will prefer.
8. It is not possible to cater to the whims and fancies of everyone. That is why no load is proposed to be put on Ram to arrange (though he is so sweet that he would have happily arranged in case we asked him). Harpreet and Anup are happy to bring them. Even Erol has offered.
9. Each person has his own outlook. Each person has his own memories of school. Each person has his own expectations. Let us not force our own opinions as to what is Reconnect and its purposes and ends are on others. Let us not make narrow definitions and them require everyone to adhere to them.
10. We are all friends. Presumably equal. Maybe some persons are bigger, some are smaller. But no one should assume the role of a school master or Hollat, who will swing his danda on anyone who does not listen to him.

Let everyone have fun in their own way. Let us not get autocratic. Let us not force our own opinions and preferences on others. Majority or minority does not matter. Let even the minority live and enjoy in their own way. Let us be inclusive.

And let us not make a big issue out of it. If a couple of people(or even one person)  want to eat or drink something, so be it. It should not trouble any one. Live and let live.

Love, peace and happiness to mankind.

Sanjiv Sarin
PS: To avoid any misunderstanding, all the above is written in good fun. In the final count, nothing matters. Just that I never appreciated Hollat's danda.

Sathiyon,

Option B should be the way to go.  I agree with Shiv that while we folks may get mingled fast, we need to make sure that spouses get engaged and do not get bored.

Cheers!

With some  thoughtful discussion in sma74-24x7 channel a short while ago on the same topic, junta at large  has come to the   conclusion that bun samosa be kept out  as a key parameter  in deciding  on type of menu for the  19th.

Cheers!
