We keep reading that the next war between nations [and in our country
- between the stares] is going to be due to WATER. In JVV water supply
is the major cause of bitterness and heart burning.
For those who live in 'elevated' flats like in sector A, the
elevation has pushed us to the bottom rung when it comes to water
supply. But there are many 'lords and ladies' who waste water. Count the
number of 'always kept open' water taps on the supply line to water
their 'private' gardens, then you will understand what I mean.
Will the people in the 'elevated' positions of BOM lend a helping
hand to ease the position? In my flat A-23, there is not a drop. What an
irony, our colony is called JAL vayu Vihar??

If the objective of the revised water supply timing

If the objective has not been met, then perhaps
reversion to the earlier timings is warranted.
BOM may kindly look into this.

PS(in a lighter vein) No need to follow what was once
a British Airways motto:
" We are not happy till you are not
happy!"
Further to my mail, I waited for
water to be supplied for more than an hour because water was
NOT
supplied as earlier mentioned at 3PM. I went again to check
position. I was told by the Electrician (as I could not see any
Plumber) that water is first being supplied to A and B Sectors
now and later it will be supplied to C and D Sectors. I waited
till 1630 hrs with no sign of water coming. At last, water came
in trickle at about 1635. It stopped coming at 1645, hardly
supplying about 150 litres. We have to manage our requirements
for the day within this availability just like in the past few
weeks. I cannot understand the "equitable distribution"
of water to all residents being attempted with these experiments
and changes. Averaging total supply by number of flats is not
ensuring equitable distribution. During this surplus season, the
actual state of affairs is dismal. I cannot imagine what is
going to be our plight during the lean season. We try to
adjust our daily chores by curtailing washing of clothes,
washing of utensils, swabbing floors, conserving water in Bath
rooms, dispensing away potted plants etc. But I am afraid to say
that the response from people in return who are managing this
complex problem is not satisfactory. As regards to supply,
every block in D Sector cannot be treated as same as the ground
level tanks are at various levels. There had to be some
transparency and open mind to solve such problems. We are just
informed about the final decisions taken by "experts" but not
the process tried out and changes/ modifications made and the
logic to provide equitable distribution. I do not think that we
are going to succeed in this sort of experimentation. Please
engage an outside Technical consultant with considerable
experience on Water Distribution to study this problem and
suggest a feasible plan and costs. Many of our "experts" have
tried but miserably failed, only causing bitterness and bad
feelings among residents. I hope that Cmde Franklin personally
looks at this problem at highest priority because the lean
season is fast approaching. At our old age, we do not need
another problem of survival without adequate
water. S.Murugan.

Hi Harry, Don't be despondent. You have
company. I found my GLT empty in evening of Saturday. I
assumed that there might be some water in the top tank. I
heard, on waking up from sleep, my Pump/motor of Automatic
water level controller running continuously at about 2AM.
Obviously the level at the top tank was below the minimum (200
litres) as the pump had cut in and was running continually for
more than an hour (since bottom tank is empty.) I switched off
the Automatic water level system and the Pump immediately as
the Motor may burn out. Whole Sunday and Monday, we
have lived with this 200 litres of water. Just now we have
just 2 Buckets of water to manage!! I just checked up and
found that water is likely to be pumped at about 3 PM. Good
News!!. I thought that I should cheer you up by conveying
this good news to you. Let me assure you that we are not alone
in managing poor supply. I saw this morning Water
Bowzers at least at three places including lower end of D
Sector. But then visit of external water supply vehicles on
Week Ends including Monday is a common occurrence now in our
Complex. Equitable water supply here is a myth!! Purely, a
theoretical Exercise!! Cheer Up Old Boy!! We have seen the
worst!!! Do not forget that we are Veterans in this Colony!!.

Dear
BOM,
The measures involving the rescheduled timing and
quantity of water are, supposedly, to "ensure a more
equitable distribution of water".What was so "inequitable"
in the earlier supply of water? If the earlier method was
faulty what were the cogent reasons for discontinuing
the additional supply on Mondays,Wednesdays & Fridays?
Presently on these days water is supplied after 32 hours
once only leading to many empty tanks even in sector C leave
alone sectors A & B!! Perhaps I am the only one facing
these difficulties (which I have very seldom had since
moving in Feb 91)as I have not seen any other
complaints.If,as I suspect,there are many 'silent sufferers'
then may I request the BOM to kindly explain their logic and
take such measures to remedy the situation as they deem
fit.
