Welcome to ChurchillChat, a place to discuss the life and legacy of Sir Winston Churchill, sponsored by the International Churchill Society (ICS). ICS is based in Washington, D.C. and London. ChurchillChat allows Society members and non-members alike to share their enthusiasm about Winston Churchill in an interactive exchange of information and ideas.

ChurchillChat is maintained via the Google Groups here. Access to group messages may be made from any web browser. Members of the group can post and reply to messages from the Google Groups page or via email and all group messages are archived on the group's page, threaded by topic. Archived messages can be searched by keyword. ChurchillChat members can manage their subscription from the Google Groups page: change to digest mode, stop receiving emails without dropping your group membership or unsubscribe entirely. You can also add a profile that can be accessed by other group members.
When posting and replying to messages, ChurchillChat members are asked to observe standard email group etiquette, as follows:
- First, remember the group’s purpose—the discussion of the life and legacy of Winston Churchill. Simply stated, each topic should directly relate to Churchill. We are not a current events discussion group (refrain from ‘If Churchill were alive today’ types of messages), nor are we a general history discussion group. If we remember to keep the focus on Churchill, all group members will be getting exactly that for which they signed on.
- When posting, consider yourself as having a face-to-face conversation with someone in a crowded room. The discussions are meant to stimulate conversation not to create contention. It’s possible to disagree without being disagreeable.
- When generating a reply, users should delete the original message, or just leave segments of the original message, which are being specifically replied to. Paraphrasing or quoting selectively are both kinder to people’s eyes and email boxes.
- Messages of a commercial nature are not allowed.
- Email attachments are discouraged. When possible, post images or documents to the Files folder on the ChurchillChat web page or a website and direct people there rather than send images or documents as attachments.
- Send messages such as “thanks for the information” or “me, too” to individuals, not to the entire group.
- Do not send administrative messages, such as "remove me from the group," to all group members. Instead, use the ChurchillChat Google Group page to change your settings or to remove yourself from the group.
- Do not post copyrighted material to the group without the author’s permission.
Although rarely necessary, ChurchillChat moderators reserve the right to delete messages from the group’s message archive and/or restrict or eliminate a group member’s posting privileges.
