I can not continue waiting on this application - the Contacts app this
has major issues and worse, I do not feel it can trust live data. I
check their website constantly hoping the converter or calendar views
will be there. I think there will be a very long wait before either
one of those two actually happen.
The converter is still MIA - it's way past 12/31/05.
The cal. app has not been touched at all.
I could go on, but let's not.
I have two businesses to run and I think I am entitled to a life. I
should not have to spend ever waking moment outside work on this.
I have decided to go with DL. V 1.9 has some rough spots, but the
newest Beta goes a long way toward addressing them.
Better yet, the developer seems to be rapidly incorporating user
requests. Additionally, the actually interact with use.
The only shortcoming is the lack of Sync Services, but - i would rather
have them wait and have it correct than .......
Been there done that.
Just my humble opinion, actual results have be far better or worse.
Feel free to correct me if I have misstated anything.
Good luck Rob, you've been much more patient than I was, and certainly
more than they deserved.
I let you know:

nick,
when are we going to see the next release? jerry indicated that the
contacts label issue would be fixed in that release.
Am I being to harsh? I'd saw not harsh enough. Let's see, the label
issue that i am referring to here
http://discussions.chronosnet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1220 is one
that you folks said was already fixed (was not as of 02/15) and i was
told that would be fixed in the next release. as i indicated, i am
totally unable to fix my data without this new release. and will this
new release fix that data? based on history, i suspect it will only
take care of data on a go forward, and i'll be stuck fixing over 1,400
contacts.
while we are speaking frankly here, are we ever going to see that
converter? hate to harp on it, but when organizer was beta in
december, we were told, "no later than 12/31/05" (your own words).
when you posted a note while @ macworld, you said "no later than the
third or fourth week of january as a person was sick, holidays, etc.).
their have been people that have posted here that have said they were
told @ macworld no later than end of january. here were are, almost
two months late. how you can continue to call this the offical
successor for POGO without a supported conveter to migrate data is
beyond me. a more accruate description at this point would be to call
it the product that replaces POGO, without as many features (ie
calendars), and no possible way to ever migrate your data out of the
product we just dead ended.
i for one, and i'm sure many others, would be fine with the converter
in rough form. we've been hearing for far to long it only needs gui
work.
how about on honest answer for once. i, like many other, have
documneted the ONGOING problems with the program. to say in your other
post that the problems "were solved months ago" is a very disingenuous
statement. unless we are reading totally different boards i fail to
see how you can make a statement like that.
there are many people that are suffering out here. we have let many
things pass. but, after the whole macworld, no show conveter, the
TOTAL LACK OF PROGRESS ON CALENDARS, your line about "It has always
been our intention to implement calendar views like the ones you're
used to in Personal Organizer. This will be our PRIMARY focus in the
coming months. We hope to have most or all of the calendar views
implemented in the first quarter of 2006. We intend to involve you, the
users, in this development process as much as possible. As we add new
calendar features to Organizer, we'll release a series of frequent and
FREE updates to the software and we hope you'll give us your feedback.
To reiterate, our primary goal in the near future is to bring SOHO
Organizer's calendar features up to the level of Personal Organizer.
And all of these improvements will be free for all SOHO Organizer
users." I DONT SEE WHERE WORKING ON UNIVERSAL BINARIES FITS THAT
DESCRIPTION.
Perhaps as users we have been to paitent. so let me be really, really,
clear here:
i for one, am looking at another package right now. i have to make a
decesion on that in ten days, either (1) purchase it or (2) stay with
Chronos. i would hate to spend money on more software if you are going
to get SOHO into the shape that you have been describing since may of
'05.
please, please give me a reason to stay! notes when it works, has
changed the way i both my wife & i use our mac, both, we cannt wait
forever.
is it fair to expect us as users to?
Customer service at its best LOL!
Purchased Daylite right after that.
The steps Dale outlined is the only way currently to move contact
information from Personal Organizer to SOHO Contacts until the
converter application is released. With that said, there is a bug in
Personal Organizer when it exports certain addresses it puts some
address fields such as state and zip in the wrong place.

might even buy DevonThink as a Notes replacement if I continue to have
issues with it.
If Chronos released public betas, instead of trying to sell half baked
software, they would be hearing a whole different tune right now. They
should have an honest SOHO-O "1" beta 5 at his point, instead of a
deceitful SOHO-O 5.0.5. Do you think they know this and just can bring
themselves to admitting they did wrong? Or are they really that foolish?
not sure what they are thinking, but here is what i know:
(1) converter still mia, know over two months late
(2) by their own admission, there is a state / po issue when exporting
contacts from PO
(3) no update whatsoever to the Calendar app (if you can even call it
that)
i don't know what type of testing they did with this product. The
results seem to speak for themselves.
many people, myself included would have given them a passs had they
posted as beta. perhaps they were worried what people would think - is
this really the best work that four or so years can produce?
i look at what marketcircle has done since macworld - 4 beta releases!
what sealed it for me was what they did the other day - making me take
my post down - when i was only asking about the converter and the
PROMISED calendar views. They never answered my question about that
new release and what it was doing to thee data in AB.
paying for daylite and the dmi was an expense i did not want - but
guess what - no data issues! :) what a surprise - it's amazing what i
put up for so long.
i plan to purchase devonthink as a notes replacement as well to make my
machine a chronos free zone.
im embrassed to admit that i purchases SOHO Organizer at full price for
my sisyer for christmas.
we have a little store out here in CT that you might have heard of -
Stew Lenorad's. They have an interesting sign that's eight feet tall
at the entrance. it says:
Rule 1: customer is always right
Rule 2: in case of problems, refer to rule one
guess our friends at chronos missed that one :)
in hindsight, i have t laugh at all the wated time, but yours and mine.
thankfully the people at marketcircle have a different approach.
love v 1.9 - cann't wait for the 'final" version 3
Probably will purchase it at the end of 30 days than goodbye Chronos
FOREVER :)
Will tell all friends and family members to NEVER purchase software
from this company again (based on my experience and opinion)
