I admit I've been waiting and waiting to try the new Soho, having been
a PO user since almost the very beginning. I lurked on the old Chronos
support boards, when they were free and open and was afraid to try
Soho when it 1st came out. I see they've now progressed past the 5.7
beta to an official release. Has anyone tried it yet, and, if so, can
they post experience? Sorry for being such a wimp myself, but my time
was simply too precious to be going thru such painful experiences as
those of you who tried the earlier versions went thru. Thanks for the
advice and help.

I am also waiting to see how the newly combo'ed Now Up To Date and
Contact looks when that is finally released.

Maybe the Nighthawk (NOW) folks will provide a PO translator.

Given the way Chronos handled their transition and their forums, I'd
not spend another dime on them.

I am also completely off Soho. But just for the heck of it, I
downloaded the new version and tried to import some PDF files. It hung
every time.

More of the same, and even if it wasn't, they need to square
themselves with their user base: publicly acknowledge the problem,
explain why it happened, ask for forgiveness, and tell us what steps
are being taken to ensure it doesn't happen again.

PR 101.

Being one who rashly bought the package when it launched a year ago
I've pulled down 7.1, now out of beta. It seems to work OK on a
superficial level but I've not spent much time on it. Even all these
updates later I still have a permanent error message on my desktop
saying - an error occurred while saving, next to a yellow warning
triangle and a torch.

The other main problem is speed, nothing is quick. A find name in the
address book takes several seconds before the screen changes and start-
up takes enough time to make a cup of tea, literally ( yes I'm
English ) ie 3 minutes when opening up first thing in the morning.

Awaiting with interest to see what Nighthawk launches and even Apple
with their next OS.

I've had problems with speed in the past, but so far with this latest
iteration (which I took a look at after seeing the note here that it
had been released) I have had none of that serious delay problem. I
don't see any advantage to using it over just sticking with iCal,
however, so I don't see myself using it in spite of having spent the
money already. Perhaps there will be more to come, but my old
Consultant 2.58 had more features and was far more useful to me. The
curse of the "computer age" seems to be the intermittent loss of
useful software as hardware continues to develop. I do use Notes, as
it does meet my needs, although Daylite seems closer to an overall
program in meeting my needs. Everything still falls short of what I
had before, however, and the features in Consultant remain my standard
to measure other contenders against (at least for my specific needs).

Like JR, I'm interested in Nighthawk, but I suspect it will not have
the features I need based on what I've seen so far.

Thanks to all for the input. Sad what's happened to a great program. I
still mourn that Managing Your Money, the old DOS program I continue
to use via Virtual PC, never really moved into Windows and held on,
let alone a Mac version. Even now, does some things so much better and
comprehensively than Quicken, especially the Mac version of Quicken.
