In two days, this group has grown from 4 members to 9! I hope the trend
continues.
We could use some contacts through ACSI. If anyone knows of someone who
could spread the word about this discussion board, super!

This group is one of many Usenet groups that are still around from the
good ol'
days. Remember "alt.religion.christianity"? Well, it's still there.
Google.com is
making it easier to create email newsletter groups and discussion
groups. It's
free as long as you can put up with sponsors in the right margin of the
page.

You can even set up a group for your school. It's really easy.

What you need to know is that anyone... yes, "anyone"... can read these
posts.
Therefore, apply the same rules that you give the students about
revealing too
much information about you personally. Leave that to email.

This is different from blogging in that the focus is on discussion, not
one or two
people providing all the information to which a few give feedback. So,
it is expected
that you, the members, will post messages with vim and vigor!

Just to get the ball rolling, so to speak, I started a few topics that
might be relevant
to you. At the moment, there is no need for a moderator since only
members can
post. At some point, that may change.

If you are a member and haven't posted yet, just reply to this with a
quick "hi".
It'll make me feel like I'm not the only one reading all of these
posts. ;^)

Just checking in with the Christian Tech group - not sure I will have
much to contribute, but it makes for interesting reading! Keep up the
good work!

Hello!

I am the "new" technology coordinator for Eastern Christian Schools in
northern New Jersey. I've been teaching computer classes at the high
school for the last 5 years, and this year we decided to expand the
job...I'll now be supporting the technology in 3 campuses plus the
administration offices.

The school sytem is preK - 12 with about 1000(+) students. Two campuses
are Mac-based, mostly lab settings with 1-2 computers in the classroom.
The high school is a Windows 2000 domain with 2 labs plus scattered
computers.

I look forward to sharing ideas...and getting some help! ...in this
group!

We now have 22 members. I hope to see some more activity here
in the coming weeks.

Hi,

My name is Becky. I am the Elementary Computer Teacher at a private
school in Lanham, MD. I have for the last three years been teaching
K-6, which is approximately 150 students, in a lab of 18 networked
computers and 1 projector (which is currently fried, due to our lovely
storms, compliments of Ernesto). I also do some work on the classroom
and other school computers.

Starting later in the year I will be teaching my first High School
Computer class as well

I don't know how much I will have to contribute, but I'll try.:)

I know one thread I would like to read about would be, how do you as
teachers, work the bible and its lessons into your computer classes.

I know we all have different levels and different skills Please Don't
be shy!!
I would love to hear from all of you!!

Thanks,
Becky
