So much of traditional Christian doctrine is rooted in the belief in
the Sovereignty of God as critical attribute that MUST be upheld. Can
you think of reasons why this is such an important attribute? And
what
is the impact of this attribute on the way that we live as Christians?

The Sovereignty of God is thought provoking. Let me start with the
Dictionary, it says sovereignty is above or superior to all, supreme
and indpendant of all.Than comes the 1st ommendment "I am the Lord
your God,who brought you out of Egypt out of the land of slavery. You
shall have no other gods before me" Exodus 20. Than referring to an
article on the Sovereignty of God by John Murray of The Orthodox
Presbyterian Church. In the article he writes it is not as if there
were a host of lesser deities over whom God is supreme and therefore
demands from us supreme worship and devotion. It is rather that he
alone is God. "The Lord he is God; there is none else beside him." "He
is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath : there is none
else" {Deut. 4:35,39} Bottom line is God is.

Great scripture references. The attribute "Sovereighnty" is unique to
the divine. Only one who is God can be sovereign. There is another
definition for the word sovereign, it has to do with the fact that
God's will is absolute, and free, no one or nothing can impose their
will upon the will of God, orherwise that THING would be God.

Can there be two sovereign beings in the universe? if so, what would
happen?

The Sovereighnty of God is absolute there can be only one. If two were
trying to exist in the same universe there would be complete chos and
upheaval, on going war for power like to day the struggle for power.
Satan thinks he is the almighty-not-..
