I worked some fun QSOs today on 40, using my Triton IV, running about 40 watts or so.  Sigs were sparce during the afternoon, but the noise floor was low.  Great fun. 73

We are thinking of renaming the group:

    Duck Fat Co-Operators.

    DFCO

And for our duck call on the air we are going to make a loud Bronx Cheer
noise, virtually undetectable from the sound of flatulence.

    Are you pro-Duck or pro-Chicken?

It has nearly gotten to a civil war, where you can't tell the Ducks from
    the Chickens.

After being off the air for a few decades and hooking stuff back up,
I'm looking at my Vibroplex again. My Bencher paddle was really good
30 years ago, but for some reason, it doesn't follow my fingers very
well anymore. It must have picked up some rust or grit in it
    somewhere.

I bought the Vibroplex Original De Lux at the Burbank Lockheed ham
club in 1977. Someone had won it at a hamfest raffle they had and
they were a CB'er, I mean a SSB'er, and had no use for it, so I got it
at half price. I handled > 10K commercial messages with it at WNU.

We used hand keys at radio school at Keesler AFB, 1953,
then bugs on the point-to-point CW nets relaying aircraft
position reports throughout the Pacific. Therein lies my affinity
for single lever paddles which I used until I built and used many
versions of keyboards for QRQ CW schedules. Over last year
I have digressed to the bug and have been reminded how pleasant
the feeling is that travels from my fingers to my brain.

I was telling my FOG friends that I had ordered a left handed vibroplex from eBay.  They told me I should turn My current bug upside down and it would be fine.  They were right.  Navy radio school 1954     de W5UX
