Update: Justice for Nativo and Overhill Farms Workers

Compañeros and Compañeras (ESTE MENSAJE SE TRADUCE ABAJO), 

Thank you for continued support of Nativo in the face of the adversity that he and the community that he supports face. Included with this email is a brief update of the upcoming actions along with a Fact Sheet that has more information on the felony charges and the civil charges that he is facing along with the workers at Overhill Farms. Please take a few minutes to review this critical information as it explains the frivolous nature of the charges and their association with the larger struggles at hand: the fight for the workers at Overhill Farms and the fight for Legalization.

We see this as a political attack against the movement that our people constitute. We see this as an attack on our auto-determination and voter rights.  An attack raised by a Republican elected official, Steve Cooley, in a county where business is king and the rights of the poor working-class are undermined. This is a clear example of selective prosecution when the charges could be dealt with at an administrative level for the nature of the technicality. In contrast, this past month, Mark Jacoby, a hired goon for the Republican party who unlawfully and knowingly tricked members of the public to register as Republicans and was not registered at his correct home address plead guilty to misdemeanor charges (http://articles.latimes.com/2008/oct/20/local/me-fraud20 and http://calitics.com/diary/9150/marc-jacoby-pleads-guilty-to-voter-fraud). Nativo, a fighter for the underdog - the poor-working class immigrant, has been targeted and charged with four felony charges. A clear attack on someone who champions the values of democracy and advocates for those who do not have a voice.

We will be picketing in front of the courthouse in support of Nativo. 

Followed by a press conference after the hearing is over (time not yet determined).

Muchas gracias por su apoyo a Nativo a pesar de la adversidad que el y la comunidad que el apoya enfrentan. Incluido en esta transmisión hay la mas reciente información sobre acciones en apoyo y una hoja de datos sobre los cargos de felonía que enfrenta Nativo y los cargos civiles que enfrente con los trabajadores de la empresa Overhill Farms. Por favor tome unos minutos para repasar esta critica información que explica los cargos frívolos y su asociación con las luchas mas amplias: la lucha de los trabajadores en Overhill Farms y la lucha por la Legalización. 

Nosotros vemos esto como un ataque político contra el movimiento que nuestra gente constituye. Lo vemos como un ataque a nuestra auto-determinacion y derechos como votantes. Un ataque lanzado por un oficial Republicano, Steve Cooley, en un condado donde el negocio manda y los derechos de la clase pobre obrera son ignorados. Este es un claro ejemplo de la aplicación de la ley en una forma discriminatoria cuando los cargos se pueden tratar a nivel administrativo por su technicalidad. En contrasto, este mes pasado, Mark Jacoby, contratado por el partido Republicano ilegalmente y sabiendo el nivel de sus acciones engano a miembros del publico registrandolos como Republicanos y no registrado en su domicilio correcto, se declaro culpable a delitos menores (http://articles.latimes.com/2008/oct/20/local/me-fraud20 and http://calitics.com/diary/9150/marc-jacoby-pleads-guilty-to-voter-fraud). Nativo, un campeón por los de abajo - la clase pobre inmigrante obrera, es el blanco de cuatro cargos de felonía. Es un claro ataque de un campeón por la democracia y defensor de los que no tienen voz.
