OAKLAND, CA 12MARCH09 -- On the steps
of the Alameda County Courthouse, community activists in the
Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) protest
the auction of the foreclosed home of Armando Ramos and Fernanda
Cardenas. Their home mortgage, held by the mortgage company
OCWEN, had an adjustable rate. When it went up, Ramos and
Cardenas could no longer make the payments. OCWEN then decided
to auction off the home on the courthouse steps.
