Dear friends,

This is a crucial week in Pilsen and Chicago, as Rahm and Rauner keep subsidizing their rich friends and political contributors, our schools, pensions, health programs and just about every basic public service keep getting budget cuts. This is not sustainable, enough is enough!
How can Rahm and Rauner justify subsiding millions of dollars in public dollars for luxury developers, luxury hotels and other private projects while claiming there are no resources for schools and other key basic services for our children, our youth, our elderly and the community at large?
These cuts are criminal and directly affect our families and residents in our communities; we keep seeing more young people going to jail than graduating from high school or attending college; we keep seeing our families displaced from the "barrio" they call home while more and more luxury apartments keep getting build across the city even with public subsidies; we keep seeing the working class subsidizing the super rich, and we are not taking this anymore.
On April 1st, we are calling our community to stand in solidarity with teachers, health workers, students, and other community residents who will withhold their labor on this day to raise awareness about the criminal cuts and growing inequity in Pilsen and across the city. One day of solidarity and in unity can go along way to reshape the vision and decisions made by Rahm and Rauner which keep hurting our working class residents, the 99%.
Please consider attending the different events happening across the city, including Pilsen. Here is a list of events on April 1st:

Pilsen Alliance plans to support school rallies through out Pilsen (each neighborhood school), and then join a student march to the California Jail that will meet at 26th and Sacramento at 10 am. We will also attend the UIC rally at 2:30pm, and finally end up at the 4 pm massive rally at the Thompson Center at 4 pm.

This is an important week in Pilsen and Chicago, and we hope to have your support as we build a more inclusive and fair community, a city for everyone and not only for the 1%.

Finally, here is a list of events in Pilsen this week:

JOB WORKSHOP - MARCH 29TH AT 6 PM AT RUDY LOZANO LIBRARY
