Friends,
We have moved the rally for immigrants' rights to Thursday at 4:00pm. The NU police have already offered an apology and are drafting a changed policy to ensure that immigrants will not be asked of their immigration status unless there already exists a warrant for their arrest or an ICE detainer on their criminal record. We of course don't thinks goes far enough but it is at least an initial victory. We will be celebrating this first step as well as demanding full protection of immigrants' rights and support for immigrants' and workers rights' everywhere. It would really be great if someone from the movement could come and speak. I spoke briefly with Jorge on Friday, but whomever is available would be great.
We hope that this can be the starting point in a much widened fight for workers' rights at Northwestern, so any support will be greatly appreciated!
