agreement for State and Local Immigration Enforcement Partnerships.

Advocates for Immigration reform
and community leaders will hold a press conference against Napolitano’s
announcement

 

Chicago IL, Saturday,
July 11, 2009: 

 

          Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission and the Justice
Mission will hold an urgent press conference today July 11, 2009 at
2:00 p.m.
in response to Napolitano’s announcement done yesterday regarding the
New
agreements of Section 287 (g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

 

“We
have seen how the section 287 (g), since the time of enforcement and
agreements, has been affecting working class immigrants and families.
It has
been the reason of thousands of separations of families; it has been an20
excuse
to deport non-criminal immigrants.” Said Father Jose Landaverde, pastor
of Our
Lady of Guadalupe Mission.

 

            Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission and
the Justice mission are concern for the New agreements done under this
Section
287 (g) by the State and Local law enforcement. “Under this agreement
we have
seen how civil rights violations occur and an example of it is Maricopa
County
Sheriff Joe Arpaio.” Said Father Jose Landaverde.
