Primero Trump fue elegido presidente, y luego vinieron las Órdenes Ejecutivas, y después las redadas. Y la respuesta: miles de personas tomaron los aeropuertos contra la prohibición de entrada a los musulmanes, y las cortes la desecharon.

Pero otras dos Órdenes Ejecutivas están vivas: la del gasto inútil de recursos en una absurda barda en la frontera, y la que ordena deportar inmediatamente a cualquier inmigrante “acusado de un crimen”, que viola el concepto legal de que uno es inocente hasta que no se pruebe su culpabilidad. Nadie la ha desafiado en corte a pesar de su ilegalidad.

Después vinieron las redadas. Casi 700 personas fueron detenidas en un llamado “operativo contra criminales” donde también arrestaron personas sin antecedentes criminales porque legalmente la Migra tiene derecho de “arrestar a cualquier persona durante una investigación”.

¡Y después Milwaukee marchó! Más de 50,000 personas salieron a la calle el lunes para oponerse a la aplicación local de las órdenes de Trump. ¡Sigue Chicago!

Un llamado anónimo y espontáneo a un “Día Sin Inmigrantes” ha prendido en la comunidad, y los negocios están llamando a los medios de comunicación para preguntar si es real, y los trabajadores nos han llamado para preguntar “En dónde nos vemos el jueves”.

¡Apoyamos la convocatoria, y la respuesta es NOS VEMOS EN EL PARQUE UNION, Lake y Ashland el JUEVES A LAS 11 DE LA MAÑANA!

First Trump got elected, then came the Executive Orders and then the raids. And then the response. Airports were taken over in protests, courts dismantled one of his executive orders, the Muslim Ban.

But two other executive orders still stand: the incredibly absurd money-wasting wall in the border, and the one calling for immediate deportation of any immigrant “accused of a crime.” While this may be illegal and in violation of due process, nobody has challenged it.

Then came the raids. Over 680 people got deported in a nationwide “operative against criminals” which also took innocent people, because ICE has the authority to detain anyone “in the process of an investigation.”

And then Milwaukee marched! Over 50,000 people took to the streets in Milwaukee on Monday against the local application of Trump’s orders. Chicago is next.

An anonymous, spontaneous call for a “Day Without Immigrants” was launched last week, and spread like fire. Business are calling the media and workers are calling to ask “where do we meet on Thursday?”

We support the call, as an act of resistance and a response to local and national policies. The answer is we will meet at 11 a.m. at Union Park on Thursday!
