Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education (CAPE) is currently seeking interviewers to assist with student interviews for the Partnership in Arts Integration Research (PAIR) project. PAIR is a three-year project supported through the Department of Education's Art in Education Model Development and Dissemination Grant Program. The project pairs schools specializing in Math and Science, Literature and Writing, and World Languages with schools that specialize in Fine and Performing Arts. The project involves 12 Chicago public schools and students in 4th, 5th and 6th grades. The research question that drives PAIR is:
Do cross-school partnerships between one arts focused school and one academic content area focused school improve student learning and teacher practice in the arts and in that content area?
Interviewers will be requested to conduct video-recorded interviews with 6th grade students. Each interview should last approximately 25 minutes and includes questions about creative processes in artistic disciplines and academic content areas. Interviewers should be prepared to spend about 40-50 hours interviewing students. The majority of the interviews will be conducted in January, February and May 2010. Additionally, interviewers may be asked to administer student surveys and observe classrooms.CAPE offers a pay rate of $17.00 per hour.
