The staff and children of Cherokee Home for
Children went to Heart of Texas Bible Camp for Spring Break. They had lots
of fun, games, food and fellowship. One night they had a chocolate
fountain and one night they had a "mile" long banana split ( well not quite that
long). Everyone had a great time. Some of the youth from Cherokee
Home spent Saturday cleaning yards in Cherokee. They were just doing it to
serve. I'm sure the ladies all appreciated it. Curt McKneely and Kristen
Dovi spent their spring break on a mission trip to New York City. Curt
goes to school at San Angelo and Kristen goes to school at Howard Payne. A
group of men from the Baptist Church went fishing during Spring
Break.
Funeral services were held last week in Belton for
the great-grandchild of Red Bird and Pansy Randolph. If you would like to
send them a card, their address is 7504 Nolan Road Belton,
Texas 76513.
Wardell Randolph had hip surgery in Austin on
Monday. LaVoyce Sellman went to Fort Worth for another chemo
treatment. Mike and Susan Magill went to see their daughter last
week. Susan is feeling better. Roy and LaVoyce are grand parents
again. Their puppy had a baby. They would love to show it off.
Charles and Nettie Jean Randolph visited Richard Randolph in San Antonio on
Saturday. They also visited Byars Walters at Stockdale. Sue Rhoades
and Tracy and Kendall Johnson visited Richard in San Antonio Sunday. They
also visited Kevin, Mary and Jaze Randolph. Jerry Randolph was in San
Antonio Saturday to visit his Dad, Richard Randolph. Alex and Landry Poss
from San Antonio spent spring break with their grandparents, Avery and Maurine
Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Roy McCown Jr. and family visited Roy, Joyce and Tommy
last Wednesday. Joyce did her share of spoiling the new granddaughter.
Larry Crum and Jody and Katherine Simmons were in San Antonio Friday to visit
Richard Randolph. David and Sabra Roberts from Frisco are spending a few
days with Wardell and Jane Randolph. Tyler Owens spent the weekend with
the Henderson family. He was also getting to know his new cousin, Payton
Hanley. Charlotte and Jill Millican from Brownwood visited Coney and Payton
Hanley last Tuesday.
We have great news from Nazanine and Roger
Wisdom! Nazanine writes:
We are purchasing the Coline Scott house, now
owned by Gina Hanley Medcalf. Our special thanks go to Gina for providing us
with the opportunity to purchase the home. Again, the support we felt during
this trying time has convinced us that we must stay in Cherokee, must raise our
kids among these wonderful people.
The Cockrum's were en residence at Cherokee over
the weekend. We stopped by to see how the moving was coming along with
Nazanine and Roger and they were just about moved except for a goat (who didn't
want to be caught) that was in a pasture with a donkey. Ashley and I
jumped into the fray with Nazanine and her brother Joseph and sixteen rounds
later the goat was in the trailer and the donkey had the pasture to
himself. Sorry Naz, I know this goat has a name but I can't remember
it!
I stopped by Cherokee Valley Nursery on Saturday
and being spring, of course everything was in bloom! If you haven't been
out there this year, do go and see all of the beautiful blooming
plants!
Until next week, that's the news from Cherokee,
Texas!
