The 67th Annual San Saba Rodeo is just around the corner and Sponsorships are available.  For more information check out the San Saba Chamber of Commerce website at: www.sansabachamber.com or click on the link on the Cherokee, Texas website.
Harold and Maridell Johanson from LaVernia visited at Cherokee Grocery last week.  They had visited Bonnie Johanson and Pearlie Walters in San Saba.  They had lunch with Lamar and Marilyn Johanson.  They reported that Byars was doing good.
Charles Perry got a good report when he went back to the Doctor last week.  He is able to drive and do some work.
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Nelson and Sabrina have moved to Snyder, Texas.  Michael is the youth minister at the Snyder Church of Christ.  The Nelsons will certainly be missed in Cherokee.
Sandy and Caroline Oestreich and Richard Randolph were in Austin last Saturday to watch Elmo at the Frank Erwin Center. Coby Randolph spent the weekend in Cherokee with family and friends.  Sabra Roberts of Frisco spent last week with Wardell and Jane Randolph.  They celebrated Wardell's birthday on Valentines Day.  You will have to ask Wardell how old he is. Donna Dutton had three high school friends spent the weekend.  They all attended high school in Fort Worth.  The three friends came from Austin, Round Rock and Montana.  They had lunch at the Cherokee Grocery.  The Becky, Jeff and Ashley Cockrum had a surprise visit from Janane Nobles the other day.  Janane is doing really well after his surgery although he must continue to be very careful and wear a neck brace for some time yet.
Roger and Nazanine Wisdom are looking for a house to rent.  The house they are living in has been sold and they must move before March 15.  They really want to stay in the Cherokee area and continue to send their kids to school and we all really want them to stay!.  If you know of a place that they could rent, preferably long term but short term would do until they find something long term would do, please let Nazanine know.  You could leave a message for her up at the Cherokee Grocery Store.
Finally, I have a new job and I don't have to drive as far into Austin!  I am the Office Manager at a church on the west side of Austin.  The area that the church is located in is growing in leaps and bounds and so a steady rise in membership is expected in the coming years.  This is a wonderful opportunity for me and I really feel especially blessed to be working with so many truly nice folks!
There are a lot of good jobs to be had in the Austin area if you don't mind the drive.  I applied several places in the areas that I preferred to drive to and I had several nice offers.  Just be sure to take that paycheck back to San Saba County and spend it!
Until next week, that's the news from Cherokee, Texas!
