Cherokee News - Week of September 24, 2006
Gas prices continue to
drop. I've spotted it at $2.29 for regular unleaded at several places this
past week. Good to see those lower prices! It is also good to see
email flowing on a more regular basis. Much of it is labeled spam which
isn't but at least it is getting to my inbox.
Saturday September 30 is
Cherokee Day! The Cherokee Home for Children will be having it's big auction,
which benefits the children, and usually goes on all day. They always have some
really good food available for auction goers as well. Everyone come out and
visit with old friends, meet some new one and chances are you'll find that one
(or several) thing that you've been looking for or needing for your home or
garden.
Congratulations to John and Mary Catherine Holley on
the birth of their grandson, Luke Allen Holley. He was born September
22. His parents are Matt and Mandy Holley. Byars Walters had lunch in the grocery store
Saturday. He was doing really good. Harold and Charles Johanson
brought him to Cherokee for a visit. They met Lamar and Marilyn Johanson
for lunch. Byars was so glad to see all of his friends. David
Penney had back surgery in San Angelo last Friday. The surgery was a
success. Maybelle and Gary Ray visited with
Joyce, Randy and Brandon Capps at Lampasas on Sunday the 17th of
September. They helped Brandon celebrate his birthday.
