There's a lot going on in the area this coming
weekend! The San Saba County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Cow
Camp Cook Off on Saturday, April 21 at Mill Pond Park. Also on the venue
is live western theater, the infamous rubber duckie race, live music,
volleyball, washers, and horseshoe pitching tournaments, door prizes, and
food and fun for everyone!
The San Saba County Museum will be open to the
public and the San Saba Garden Club will have their club house open to the
public. (located next to the water wheel on Mill Pond Creek)
There will be a
dance at the civic center on Saturday night which runs from 8pm to 1am.

While you're in San Saba, be sure to check
out the Forward Point Gallery. We are so fortunate to have an artist of
the caliber of Richard Smith in our area. It's also a great place to take
visitors to our area. There is a link to Forward Point Gallery on both the
Cherokee, Texas and San Saba Chamber of Commerce website.
Wednesday night is family night at the Baptist
Church. Services start at 6:30 p.m. The men will be frying
catfish. Bring a salad, vegetable or dessert. Be sure and come and
bring a friend!
The PTC will have a portrait fundraiser on Saturday, May
5th, from 12:00 to 5:00 pm in the school gym and again on Sunday, May 6th, from
12:00 to 2:00. You may email Dixon or Rita to set up a time if you have
conflicts; otherwise, just show up in your best portrait attire. Pictures
will be $6.00 per sheet whether it’s 1 - 8x10, 2 - 5x7, or 4 – 4x6 pictures on a
sheet. We will upload them to Walmart and Dixon will pick them up and
bring them back to school. We will have a tv hooked up to the camera so
you will be able to get the “perfect” picture. You can email us at

The Methodist Church hosted a egg hunt for the
community after church last Sunday.
The Junior and Senior Banquet was held in Buchanan
Dam last Saturday.
Monica and Samus Baisden and puppies Mischief and Mayhem, Tiffany
Suggs, Sydnie Suggs and her friend Taylor were in Cherokee last week-end to
visit Doug and Cyndi Suggs and to attend Walt Broyles wedding. Danny and
Janiece Duggan have a new grandbaby. Mason Gunter Duggan was born to Jared
and Kim Duggan in Ohio. Big brother Landon is very proud. Stop by

Congratulations! Richard Randolph attended a birthday party for grandson,
Collin Oestreich in Marble Falls on Sunday. Charles Perry was fishing at Choak
canyon for a few days last week.
A housewarming party was held for Nazanene and
Roger Wisdom and Boys last Monday night. They got many beautiful gifts for
their new home.
Jenna and Jamie Ball recently attended the St. David's Hospital
neonatal ICU reunion in Austin. They enjoyed seeing some of the many faces
that took such good care of them during their long hospital stay last
year. They especially enjoyed visiting with their primary caregivers, Dr.
Frank Cho and Nurse Karen Sherer. Also attending with the twins were big
sister Jessica, Kristi Ball, Melody Ball and Nettie Jean Randolph.
