The following is from Chazak Divisional Director, Edward Ward.

I also want to congratulate Andrea Moskowitz and Todd Hausman on receiving well-deserved gifts for their long and outstanding service to the Chazak Division.

Mazal Tov to our Chazak USYers of the year: Risa Schoenfeld from Merrick JC and Zach Harmin from CBE, Massapequa.

Kol Hakavod to Shelter Rock Jewish Center on being named "Chazak USY Chapter of the Year."  Special words of thanks to Lois Lange, who will be leaving Shelter Rock at the end of this year.  It has been through Lois's hard work and commitment that Shelter Rock is where it is today.  Chazak will Miss you!

Lastly, in my remarks to the division today I shared that this coming 2008-2009 year will be my final year as Chazak Divisional Director.  As I said in my speech, my desire to serve my synagogue and the conservative movement in a lay leadership role combined with my new job and wanting to spend more time with my family has led me to this decision.  I felt it was important to tell not only the USYers today but also you sooner rather than later to show my commitment to Chazak.  I intend to be actively involved in the selection of my successor with the hope that he/she will be in place by mid-year and can begin to be integrated into the role.

Leaving Chazak will be bittersweet.  Knowing that in 12 months my tenure will be over is tough - but knowing how amazing this coming year will be excites not only me but the Chazak Board as well.  I hope you will be just as excited for the year ahead."
