I haven't got a chinchilla yet and am waiting for one to be available.
They are very easy to fall in love with.
I'm looking for other alternatives to pine or aspen shavings, and it
goes without saying I won't be using cedar. Gentle Touch aspen and a
few others like Bioflush or country Critter, or is that the other way
around? Look like possibilities if they're available here.
If not, I'll stick to aspen shavings. I'm just looking for something
that won't stick to fur the way shavings tend to, are absorbent, and
keep down odor - not that odor is a problem with chinchillas, but
every bit helps.

I looked at the moderators link on the members page. There is a
moderator,
but the yahoo profile is listed as 'unavailable'. I'm not sure if that
means
she created this list before yahoo required a profile to run lists and
still
hasn't got an id, or if it means she's managed to conceal her profile.
There are lots of privacy options at yahoo, but I'm not sure you can
keep
your id and profile from showing up on a group when the member list is
available. But to be able to moderate a list now, you have to have a
yahoo
id and profile linked to the email account you use on the list.
I'll post when I get the other chinchilla lovers list set up and
everyone
but the obvious is more than welcome there.

the -chinchilla- list. It is moderated and nothing like this will be
tolerated - it's name is chinformation and the monitor is Peyton in
Florida.
The -chinchilla- list hasn't had a monitor for several years and lots

has the limited support of those organizations. This letter is

verbatim on their web site. Historically, however, efforts
that rely
heavily on e-mail chain letters for publicity are qualified
failures.

e-mail activism. The medium is very unreliable and the
potential for abuse

people, and a lot of them are hoaxes and/or out of date/inaccurate. So
it's always a good idea not to forward anything unless you personally
knew the person who wrote it and they give permission to. Or it's been

Brian Adamson is somebody who I don't think has any business dealing
with the public, his attitude is that bad. He is a rude, chauvinistic
jerk who can't stand women putting him in his place. He was so nasty
to a newcomer on another chinchilla list, and he managed to get a lot
of us really ticked off at him. He especially dislikes me because I
won't let him get away with crap either on lists or in private email.
He actually told this person that he didn't care about her life story,
this after she posted an intro and gushed a little about her chins. I
took offense at Brian's unfriendliness, he got really p155y, upset
several others, resorted to sending me unwelcome, harassing email
which I posted for all to see in return. I don't believe in protecting
a flamer's rudeness, not even in private email.
The last bout of trouble with Brian was some time ago, when somebody
posted a conservative POV chain letter. I posted the article from
breakthechain.org in response. And out of the blue, Brian went totally
postal and accused me of posting that conservative piece. I told him
to shut up basically, breakthechain is dedicated to busting email
hoaxes and other forwards, it isn't a political agenda.
Brian wrote me the following in a private email, which I refused to
protect and leave private. Everyone else has the right to know what an
absolute *bleep* he is. When you read the following, you'll understand
why I would be happy to see that child gone from every chinchilla
list. His disappearance could only improve things a lot.
