ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. --
Casey Anthony's attorneys are trying to keep her from serving
probation, and the issue has led to another investigation of her lead attorney,
Jose Baez, by the Florida Bar Association.
Chief Judge Belvin Perry has ordered Casey to return to
Orange County by next Friday to begin probation in her check fraud case, in
which she was convicted of wiping out a friend's bank account. However, Casey's
attorneys are fighting the ruling.
Errors in a written order created confusion over the
probation term initially, but now Perry claims Casey’s attorneys should have
known she was not supposed to serve probation while she was behind bars.
Baez admitted to Perry that he knew Casey had served her
probation while she was still in jail. But he didn't think it was his
responsibility to notify the court.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, at this point, there's
no word on whether the bar began this latest investigation on its own, or if
someone filed a complaint against Baez.
He has been under investigation by the bar at least two
other times since he took Casey’s
case.
