The Silver badge of the day honor goes to Ankita Sadani for collecting $500 from her sources in addition to the $200 she already collected before.

Now, please see below, the e-mail we just got from Ruchita Pednekar, Anvi's mom on the case progress.  Seems like they are short of 15 lakhs.  Narayana Hrudayalaya subsidizes the treatment but we don't know how much exactly.  After subsidies, the gap is probably 10 lakhs (just a guess).  This is roughly $18,000.  Let's see how much we can raise. 

 

Thank you all for the efforts.  This is definitely some higher force making us all work for this girl.  I am very sure this girl will survive and grow up to be a teenager and give her mom slightly different headaches, which she will be too happy to deal with, considering where they are today.  Let's hope and pray we all see that day.

As you must be aware we had found a match for Anvi at the Germany Registry last week. And as mentioned earlier the donor was not traceable since then. But by god's grace a couple of days before they have managed to trace the donor and signed the required consent with him. Now the donor is confirmed.

The doctor's from Narayana Hrudayala were in constant touch with the registry people and had asked them to give the best possible discounts to transport the donor cells from Germany. Earlier the cost estimated to us was about 10 lakhs for it, The good news here is after the discounts given by them we have to pay them around 6 lakhs. That will make a huge difference in the required funds budget and what looked impossible to us seems to be possible. This has revised our budget to Rs. 26 lakhs ( Rs. 6 lakhs to transport donor cells + Rs. 20 lakhs for transplant procedure). Now we have 11 lakhs in hand and short of the remaining funds.

Our journey till now has been like a roller coaster, but now we are really happy to see things are now falling in place. We thanks god for being so generous to us and make all this happen at the right time. This takes us a step ahead in our battle to save our little angle and for sure god is with us.  We are sure all this is happened only because of everyone's blessings and prayers. Hoping to cross this hurdle very soon just like the way miraculously things have changed in our lives.

The dates for the transplant have finalized which i have already shared with Leena mam, also to authenticate attaching below is the new invoice received from the Germany registry. Also attaching the cost letter for the transplant procedure from the Hospital

Thanks for the initiative. As you know we have found a match for Anvi with the Germany registry, where the cost to transport the stem cells will be around 10-12 lakhs. But still we have not got any confirmation from the doctors or hospital's side about the donor. The registry have still not signed the consent with the donor, may be they have not yet established any contact with him. Hence we have not broadcasted this news on Anvi's FB page. We will only do it once we get a proper confirmation and an invoice from the Germany registry. Till that time our target is to accumalate the required funds to transport the donor cells from USA as per the NMDP invoice which i had attached in the first mail. We are praying for the best and hope Anvi's treatment starts at the earliest.

I donated some money in Jan and I recently I got another e-mail which I encosed below from Ruchita Pednekar, Anvi's mother.  The family found a matching donor.  The invoice for the treatment is enclosed .  I called the Bone Marrow registry to verify the authenticity of the invoice.  Our friends Leena/Vijay Bollapragada, who currently live in Banglore were kind enough to visit Narayana Hridayala to verify and inquire about the child.  They spent all day going there, meeting with the doctors associated with the case and were able to verify all facts associated with this case.  Leena's e-mail is enclosed down below as well so you get to hear in first hand.

 

Long story short, please donate generously to this family if you can.   They need to raise close to USD $25-30k for this treatment.  Please pass this on to your friends ASAP.  They are planning to do the procedure by the end of this month.  I tried to look into the logistics of setting up a trust fund on Anvi's behalf through an NGO to make it easier for folks here to donate, but it is a long shot.  Time is running out.  Please send the money directly to the mother's account.  The details are in her e-mail below.

We are sorry…..this delayed update is a result of phases that we went through during the past 2 month stay in Bangalore for Anvi’s transplant. And since then we have been going through different phases of life and facing all sorts of challenges.  The day we admitted Anvi at Narayana Hrudayala Hospital for her pre transplant check up, she was directly shifted to ICU because of an active respiratory infection. Following a complication in a procedure she was put on ventilator for 3 days.  During our stay in hospital she went through lot of procedures and many blood tests. After fighting all odds and several phases of hard time, by god’s grace, doctor’s efforts and prayers of our family and well wishers, Anvi has come out strong and with the will power to fight it out and begin a new life.

And now when Anvi is doing well and according to the doctors in best of her health for the Bone Marrow Transplant, new challenge arises. The perfect match donor from USA for Anvi, for which we have been informed that importing the bone marrow donor cells from USA will cost $ 38,715 i.e. approximately INR. 21, 30,000. It came as a shock to us as we were not aware of this fact earlier. Also Anvi was scheduled to be admitted today for her transplant but our budget planning has been critically disturbed by this new update and hence the transplant procedure has been paused till we find a way out to accumulate the required funds. As per new calculations the total budget is approximate 34 lakhs and we would need 20 lakh more to complete the transplant. An appeal to you all to help us raise these funds by broadcasting this in your friends group. Will be thankful to you all if you could pass this on to whoever is interested in helping us in any form. We know that there are so many people who have been kind and helped us monetarily to accumulate a huge amount but we still require your help to raise the required funds and sincerely looking forward to everyone’s help, prayers and blessing for Anvi …….

P.S : We have attached the invoice which we have received from NMDP USA for transporting the donor’s cell to India. I went to the hospital today and talked to Dr . Sharat Damodar and he told me that the patient is very young and her sibling died most probably of a similar condition but they don't know for sure . This kids Anvi is  in need of stem cell replacement and the donor is a match from the USA but since the cost of getting that is really high they requested for the donor identification and found out that they were German and hence contacted the German counter part and are getting it for reasonably lesser cost more like 35 to 40 % less  as german counterparts subsidize for asian countries but  the cost still is about 25 Lakhs and according to the doctor the patient has got more than 60 % but is struggling for the remaining Amt.

The problem is that the child cannot make blood and it is not cancer but a is a deadly disease and has similar procedures like bone marrow cancer treatment. 

As a result of the condition the kid is severely prone to infections and hence secondary problems that could be fatal given the age and the problem. 

Also once the transplant procedure is done the kid has more that 60 % chance of survival . 

They r getting ready for the transplant end of May .

Yes sir i have shared the link with couple of people who are trying to help us from abroad. Also i would like to mention that a few of them were trying to send money to my a/c through xoom. But somehow xoom transfers to my Kotak A/C get cancelled due to unknown reasons. I tried checking with my bank, but as per them there is no problem from their side. I wonder what's the issue. So i have asked them to try through the website for Anvi.

Dear Sir,

As informed you earlier we have admitted Anvi for transplant procedure on 29th May 2013. She is now in the normal ward. There was a small surgery done on 30th May 2013 for the insertion of Hickman's Central line. That's for the administration of chemotherapy and other medicines which are required for a longer period of time. All went fine and Anvi is doing good. Now she will be transferred to the BMTU (Bone Marrow Transplant Unit) i.e to the transplant room on 3rd of June 2013 and her chemotherapy starts on 4th of June 2013 following the transplant on 12th June 2013. This will be a very crucial time for Anvi and she will require your prayers and blessing to come out fit, fine and healthy of this dangerous disease.

After she is shifted in BMTU i wont be having a frequent access to may mailbox. But i will be available on my mobile  24x7. Please feel free to call. I did check the website today and i really thank you all again for your efforts and this huge help. Keep praying for Anvi.
